It was It's Complicated. It was cute. If it got nominated for Best Picture or whatever over The Hangover I would not be pleased, but yeah. Meryl Streep is pretty awesome, but Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin aren't getting the attention they should be from this movie. Also, oh goodness, John Krasinski... but can he not play the same character in every movie he's in? And it was gross to think about Meryl Streep's vagina. Ew. No thanks for that, screenwriters.

SNL last night.

I actually missed it, but I've been hearing about how terrible it was from everyone, including my dad, who thinks the show is "still brilliant." When my dad acknowledges an episode is terrible, and Alec Baldwin can't save it, you KNOW it's bad.

The only good thing that would have resulted from McCain/Palin being elected was that Saturday Night Live would have stayed as funny as it was during the election.

Oh dear.

Okay. Kate Hudson in Almost Famous wasn't anywhere close to deserving the Oscar, but you could see that she definitely had some talent. And, well, thank God that she didn't win, because she'd currently be in Cuba-Gooding-Jr.-Oscar-winner-sinkpit-from-hell. She's resigned herself to the shittiest of romantic comedies. I mean, let's face it, this is How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, just with a dude in the role of the chick and a chick in the role of the dude.

But what REALLY irritates me about this? You can probably guess. Apparently, Alec Baldwin is not quite as talented as Dane Cook or Jason Biggs. You motherfuckers. But, apparently, he's more important than Janice Ian...

Alec Baldwin "Tired" of Acting, Scrutiny. I am not even kidding when I say Alec Baldwin is one of my favorite actors, post-2003, and all it took was some brilliant screaming of "Patriot Act!"

Oh well. At least if he leaves 30 Rock, the show will inevitably end and maybe Steve Carell can win an Emmy someday, right...?

There is no explanation for this. Except maybe NBC told Steve to take the fall for Alec, especially considering Baldwin The Awesomest submitted a perfect tape ("Rosemary's Baby") (that thing about taking a fall is a joke, seriously). Steve's great in this episode, I mean, it's Steve, but when they had stuff like "Money" or "Goodbye, Toby" or "The Deposition" and they submit "Branch Wars"?! Dumb.......... it might be the "weakest" episode for them to submit. Can they change it once he gets nominated (since he's a lock no matter what, because this is the Emmys?)?

...why are Alec Baldwin and Eddie Murphy listed before Marlon Brando on IMDb's birthdays today? I'm practically offended. Baldwin and Murphy are, you know, fine and all, but Marlon Brando is only the best actor that ever lived. That said, all three can be brilliant. Revisit two of the best movies of 2006, The Departed and Dreamgirls, to revisit two of the best performances of 2006 (Baldwin's and Murphy's), and then watch any number of Brando's brilliant performances. Last Tango in Paris (probably the best performance I've ever seen in my life), A Streetcar Named Desire, On the Waterfront, The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, The Wild One, Viva Zapata!...

Death of a Fucking Salesman

it takes brass balls to sell real estate.

...AKA Glengarry Glen Ross, suffers from the same problems a lot of stage-to-screen transfers have: it still feels like it'd be so much better on stage (I do love its jazzy score and the constant blue-tinted images of the train moving), but who cares when the acting's this good - it is, quite frankly, the best ensemble acting ever. The two highlights: Alec Baldwin who appears here in only the best cameo ever, and Jack Lemmon. This is the man that gave us Some Like It Hot, The Apartment, Days of Wine and Roses, The Odd Couple, and Save the Tiger (no, he didn't deserve that Oscar then, but it's hardly an embarassing performance to say the least and he deserved it other years, that's for damn sure!), among sooo many others, and this is probably his best performance yet. He's utterly heartbreaking. You won't find a better Willy Loman anywhere than Jack's Shelley Levene. This movie wouldn't be at all special, or probably even all that good, without the acting - but what else does it have?

Movie: B- Acting: A+ Overall: B+
