Baby Mama

Eh. It's okay. It's got its moments, but it's not that funny, though I think the relationship between Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's characters was really nicely done. Honestly, some of the music was really weird, and I wish Steve Martin had a bigger or better part, because he's Steve Martin. It also helped me prove my theory that Amy Poehler is, frankly, just a better comedic actress than Tina Fey.

The ending was contrived BEYOND, but that's okay.

I was reading old posts and... apparently I thought Kristin Wiig was better than Amy Poehler on SNL? Ew. EWWWWWWWWWWWW. Was I on drugs?!?!

Am I the only one who doesn't LOVE this?

Yeah... I mean, it was funny, but it wasn't THAT funny. Also, I think I don't think John's all THAT hot when he's not Jim. Must be the Emily Blunt grossness rubbing off on him. ;_; Or the fact that creepy like 50-year-olds lust after him so openly. GROSS! No, people, you don't "love" him because there's a cute picture of him in a plaid shirt. You love YOUR DAMN HUSBANDS.

(PS when I had to tag this entry I couldn't think of Amy's name for a disturbingly large amount of time and was like "Ann Coulter? No, that's definitely not it...")

great Project Runway skit

I can officially say that this skit is the only good thing to come out of JESUS' hosting of SNL last season or whatever.:

Bill Heder, though, I love ya, but that's a sad and pathetic Tim Gunn impression. Ugh, Tim Gunn, please be a large part of my life. Like, please make it turn out that you're my uncle or something. "Wise Bravo elder" and "silver tranny feroshia" indeed.

Tina Fey named Entertainer of the Year.

Here ya go.

I still find her overrated, and almost desperately so, on 30 Rock. But it's hard to argue with this decision in the wake of her GLORIOUS Saturday Night Live Palin skits. I'm sure you've seen them, but here they all are, because why not:

The one that started 'em all, and gave us the line of the year, absolutely: "I can see Russia from my house!" (I'm not crazy about Amy Poehler, but her Hillary here, and her Katie Couric in the next skit, are very underrated.)

"When cornered, you become increasingly adorable." The fact that they used Palin's actual words is a big fat middle finger to her face and I LOVE it.

Fey's Palin and Ferrell's Bush are like a dream come true together. "Both candidates are heavily patriotized and display much characterization." Screw 30 Rock, can Ferrell and Fey just have a TV show about the wacky antics of Bush and Palin?

John McCain is fucking HILARIOUS. He really needs to like, quit politics and join the cast of SNL. I love the fact that he's in a skit that openly mocks his certainly mock-worthy running mate in so many ways. Even Cindy is sort of charming here! Awww.

There is not a thing about this that is not perfect. The random Queen Latifah cameo is great, but the lampooning of EVERYTHING (Biden's passionate arguing for gay rights, but then saying he doesn't support gay marriage; Palin's inane "there you go, Joe!" insults; the fucking winking, "shout-outs," and refusal to actually answer the goddamn questions; Biden's bizarre everyman expressions and McCain love; the Scranton insulting!; the Republicans' constant need to bring up Ronald Reagan; MAVERICK!) pushes it over the top. The only problem is that I don't want to bang the guy who plays Joe Biden, but he does a pretty good job anyway. It's amazing.

After a very extended haitus, Celebrity Thoughts Returns.

Amy: Um... what the fuck, Jeremy, this is so inappropriate.
Tina: I'm just gonna stand here and pretend this isn't totally awkward. Maybe I should try and pull him away from Amy? Nah.
Jeremy: I HAD FIVE LONG ISLAND ICED TEAS IN THE HOTEL BAR AND I WON MY THIRD EMMY AND I AM FEELING GOOOOODDD!!!!!!! I WILL KISS THIS THEORETICAL BABY!!!

in case you missed it...

Holy crap, how amazing are Tina and Amy here?

"I can see Russia from my house!"

Too bad Michael Phelps was super awkward (though not nearly as bad as Derek Jeter, who, as much as I love him, should never ever act ever!) and looks like something you see before you die if you've led an awful life.
