haha, how many times does John almost break here?

"Koi Pond"

Guys, I just... I love The Office. I really and truly do. Though I hope we get a moment with Jim and a pregnant Pam like the one Andy had with her (though obviously less cringe-worthy) sometime soon!

I thought they did a really good job with Jim this episode. He came off like a doofus, but not embarrassingly so. Me gusta.

Heh, this is the second year in a row that there's an episode with a Halloween cold open that is the funniest part of the whole episode. This episode was about fifty times better than "Employee Transfer," though.

finally watching "Koi Pond"

Bahahaah Michael was so inappropriate in that haunted house in so many ways.

Lauren C10

I honestly think she's in the top twenty or so of the most annoying contestants. All her post-show shit-talking on every ANTM board in existence only confirms my theory...

I don't miss Paulina.

AT ALL.

ANTM C10 is on!

Yay. This cycle is awesome. It's my favorite, next to C6 which always seems to be on, not that I mind.

Hahaha they just showed that time where Claire was B2 but made it through and yelled "YES!!!!" obnoxiously right in poor Aimee's (who was eliminated) face. Which means Lauren's imitation of Claire is coming up soon yaaaayyy!!!

tastiness

Here

I can't believe I'm still awake =/

Election weirdness

I may have said this before, but it's strange that the movie is much, much darker at the end than the book is. Also, when you see the PICK FLICK pins for the first time, they are... suggestive, at first glance.

Halloween!

BOO!

oh, ugh

Ricky Gervais is hosting the Golden Globes this/next/whatever you want to call it year? Yes, because what the Globes are missing is extreme smugness.

Project Runway: I don't care what week it is

Irina: She's so talented and it kills me. The outfit is an absolutely perfect complement for the original outfit and that coat is absolutely killer, when it could have been very sloppy and awkward. That said, I'm not crazy about the dress. It's kinda skanky-looking and it doesn't fit that well. Did Irina say this was supposed to be an office outfit? Yeah, no. But it's still good.

Althea: Errr... I can't believe this won. It's only a good companion piece to the original in that they both are sloppy and make me go "buhhh?" It's a really nice coat. That's the best thing I can say about this outfit, and even here, it just makes it look bigger and sloppier. The top looks really cheap, and the fit on the pants is just baggy and weird. Oh, and I know I said this before, but God fucking dammit Althea, get your model A GODDAMN BRA!!!! Her model is kind of awesome, though.

Gordana: Oh, Gordana. For once, the judges were right to attack you. This is just frumpy and bad. I don't see any of the awesome, funky original design in this, other than that, uh, they were both gray. The collar treatment just looks wrinkly, and the dart things on the jacket/the proportions on the jacket and skirt are extremely unflattering.

Logan: I see nothing of the original design, but that's actually not a bad thing. Honestly? This might be the best thing Logan made all season! I don't like the collar much, and the whole dress calls to mind some sort of weird Judy Jetson character for whatever reason, but it's just a cute, decently-made dress. From Logan, honestly, I think anything else is too much to ask...

Christopher: No. Oh, no. Oh, no no no. It's better than Gordana's because like, Christopher at least put more effort into his dress I suppose, but this is just bad. It's really sad to see someone who started out as awesome as Christopher devolve into the suck that he currently is. I do think it might be decent without the curtain drapes on the bottom... but they're there. BLEEHHHH.

Carol Hannah: I can't believe this was the best of the week, but there you go. It's a simple, cute black dress without any sort of issues. It moved great and it went along with the original outfit nicely without being too literal.

Ranked best-worst:
Carol Hannah
Irina
Logan
Althea
Christopher
Gordana

Kerry Washington was really annoying during judging; it made me sad because I love her :(

ANTM: Who's gonna win?

During the first week of the cycle, I was like 95% sure Jennifer was gonna win. I'd still pick her today, but I think the other girls are strong contenders too. So... I guess I'll explain why I think the remaining girls could win, and why I think they could lose it.

ERIN
Why she might: She's been a really strong model throughout the competition. The judges seem to really dislike her the past couple of weeks... but she's still on the show. She got the most extensive makeover and the judges love keeping those girls around. She has personality issues, but her overcoming them could be a part of her winners' edit, though this seems kinda doubtful at this point.
Why she might not: Bad edit. Falling out of the judges' favor even with good photos. Personality issues.

JENNIFER
Why she might: She's Asian! The judges love her and even with bad photos, she gets good call-outs. She's been edited quite positively. She has an "issue" to overcome with her lazy eye.
Why she might not: Her portfolio is quite weak compared to other girls'. She doesn't have any first call-outs outside of the commercial.

LAURA
Why she might: Great edit. Judges like her. Tons of personality.
Why she might not: Compared to girls like Erin or Nicole, her portfolio is just not great. She is much less consistent.

NICOLE
Why she might: The judges love her. She's the most consistent model, and her portfolio is great. Her call-out average is extremely high. Her edit seems decent, going from the weirdo outsider to a confident model.
Why she might not: It's ANTM, girls this good (usually) don't win. She really doesn't look like a model in person and the judges usually love to harp on that, so... I'm fully expecting them to bring it up randomly at some point. She's actually taller than Eva, and I don't think they want the winner of the short cycle to be taller than the winner of an actual cycle. Lack of personality? I'm kind of surprised they haven't brought that up yet...

SUNDAI
Why she might: Despite the fact that the judges don't really love her, she's still here over girls that were much better models, with better portfolios and more potential. Good backstory and great personality. She's the shortest here, and you know the judges kind of want the shortest girl to win the short girl cycle.
Why she might not: The judges don't really like her. Like, I'm pretty sure several eliminated girls have better call-out averages than her. Yikes. And everyone knows black girls can only win every third cycle!

As for my predictions...
5. Sundai
4. Laura
3. Erin
2. Nicole
1. Jennifer
I think I read there will be a F4 double elimination but... I also might be just making that up? I actually think Nicole will be one of the two to go home in the double elimination, with Laura or Erin leaving with her. The other girl will be in the F2, but Jennifer will win. I wouldn't be surprised to see Sundai in the F2, either... I really think the only situation that would surprise me at this point would be Nicole or Jennifer leaving next week.

wooo I finally watched ANTM this week

I still can't quite figure out why Brittany was sent home over Erin, who the judges have now totally abandoned, or Sundai, who they never liked anyway. Like, yeah, Brittany kinda sucked on set, but... not that bad.

What a gorgeous judging room!

I'm still sick. Blah

My life since graduating college has been very uh... (long pause) yeah.

I've said this so many times, but I love Bravo

Project Runway and America's Next Top Model marathons FTW. Image and video hosting by TinyPic

hey, Us Weekly

You know what's not necessary? An article about A-Rod and Kate Hudson's sex life. And we all know he's actually in love with Derek Jeter/Mark Teixeira/Andy Pettitte/himself (BOOM! ROASTED! I need to watch last night's Office...) anyway.

Project Runway S1

Not to state the obvious or anything but it's like 500000 times better than the current season. I think S4 (not quite sure if it's the right one, the one with Christian as the winner) was the best, though. Great challenges, so many awesome designs, really talented people, hilariousness.

oh, Christopher

As happy as I am that Logan left (hahahahhaha @ the dress they chose as his "winning outfit," that dress was totally awful) and not you on Project Runway, you are not long for this show, I don't think. You made a feather duster with what looks like a ballsack on the tie on the back.

Poor Heidi Klum is really getting torn apart for this season, based on random comments on the blogs. Its suckiness is not her fault at all. I think people are still unhappy from The Fashion Show and therefore they're gonna whine until this is over.

Althea, put a damn bra on your models!!!!

More later.

uh-oh.

There's a new commercial for Precious that I'm starting to see recently and it appears to be 25% clips of the movie, 75% Oprah raving.

things that are weird:

Michelle Pfeiffer apparently now starring in Lifetime movies. Is she that done?

October (177) (now 178)

I'm insane.

lol wut

Look, I like Nicole and all too, but there's no way this was one of the best pictures of all time, sigh. That said, the girl's performance has been insane during the cycle. After Erin's commercial breakdown, I'll happily hand the win to Nicole... but I dunno if that's gonna happen.

ANTM C13 call-out orders.

I'll keep bumping this up.

After Week 1:
1. Nicole = 1 = 1
2. Erin = 2 = 2
3. Rae = 3 = 3
4. Laura = 4 = 4
5. Courtney = 5 = 5
6. Lulu = 6 = 6
7. Ashley = 7 = 7
8. Rachel = 8 = 8
9. Kara = 9 = 9
10. Bianca = 10 = 10
11. Lisa = 11 = 11
12. Sundai = 12 = 12
13. Brittany = 13 = 13
14. Jennifer = 14 = 14

After Week 2:
1. Erin 2/1 = 1.5
2. Nicole 1/3 = 2
3. Lulu 6/2 = 4
4. Laura 4/5 = 4.5
5. Rae 3/6 = 4.5
6. Courtney 5/8 = 6.5
7. Ashley 7/9 = 8
8. Rachel 8 = 8
9. Kara 9/7 = 8
10. Brittany 13/4 = 8.5
11. Bianca 10/11 = 10.5
12. Lisa 11 = 11
13. Sundai 12/10 = 11
14. Jennifer 14/12 = 13
I ranked Laura higher than Rae because I think Laura's Week 1 photo was just a little "worse" than Rae's, but Laura's Week 2 photo was much better than Rae's. As for the girls tied with averages of 8 and 11, I just ranked them based on where I think their portfolios are at this point.

After Week 3:
1. Erin 2/1/2 = 1.333
2. Nicole 1/3/1 = 1.667
3. Lulu 6/2/6 = 4.667
4. Laura 4/5/7 = 5.33
5. Rae 3/6/9 = 6
6. Kara 9/7/3 = 6.333
7. Courtney 5/8 = 6.5
8. Ashley 7/9/8 = 8
9. Rachel 8 = 8
10. Sundai 12/10/5 = 9
11. Brittany 13/4/11 = 9.333
12. Jennifer 14/12/4 = 10
13. Bianca 10/11/10 = 10.333
14. Lisa 11 = 11
Ashley over Rachel because it's only fair, and in the only photoshoot they had in common, Ashley had a better picture. (shrug) Ew at Lisa being guaranteed the worst call-out average for the cycle. ;_;

After Week 4:
1. Erin 2/1/2/1 = 1.5
2. Nicole 1/3/1/2 = 1.75
3. Lulu 6/2/6 = 4.667
4. Rae 3/6/9/3 = 5.25
5. Laura 4/5/7/6 = 5.5
6. Courtney 5/8 = 6.5
7. Kara 9/7/3/8 = 6.75
8. Ashley 7/9/8/5 = 7.25
9. Sundai 12/10/5/4 = 7.75
10. Rachel 8 = 8
11. Brittany 13/4/11/7 = 8.75
12. Jennifer 14/12/4/10 = 10
13. Bianca 10/11/10/9 = 10
14. Lisa 11 = 11
So... two girls are kind of running away with this, huh? Jennifer over Bianca because I figured it's fair. Courtney's relatively high call-out average still grosses me out.

After Week 5:
1. Erin 2/1/2/1/2 = 1.6
2. Nicole 1/3/1/2/4 = 2.2
3. Laura 4/5/7/6/1 = 4.6
4. Lulu 6/2/6 = 4.667
5. Rae 3/6/9/3/3 = 4.8
6. Courtney 5/8 = 6.5
7. Kara 9/7/3/8/7 = 6.8
8. Sundai 12/10/5/4/5 = 7.2
9. Ashley 7/9/8/5/9 = 7.6
10. Rachel 8 = 8
11. Brittany 13/4/11/7/8 = 8.6
12. Jennifer 14/12/4/10/6 = 9.2
13. Bianca 10/11/10/9 = 10
14. Lisa 11 = 11

No ties woooooo. A lot of girls there still need to step it up =/

After Week 6:
1. Erin 2/1/2/1/2/3 = 1.833
2. Nicole 1/3/1/2/4/2 = 2.167
3. Rae 3/6/9/3/3/1 = 4.167
4. Laura 4/5/7/6/1/4 = 4.5
5. Lulu 6/2/6 = 4.667
6. Courtney 5/8 = 6.5
7. Kara 9/7/3/8/7/8 = 7

8. Sundai 12/10/5/4/5/7 = 7.167
9. Ashley 7/9/8/5/9 = 7.6
10. Brittany 13/4/11/7/8/5 = 8
11. Rachel 8 = 8
12. Jennifer 14/12/4/10/6/6 = 8.667
13. Bianca 10/11/10/9 = 10
14. Lisa 11 = 11

Brittany over Rachel cuz it's only fair.

After Week 7:
1. Nicole 1/3/1/2/4/2/2 = 2.14
2. Erin 2/1/2/1/2/3/7 = 2.57
3. Rae 3/6/9/3/3/1/6 = 4.43
4. Laura 4/5/7/6/1/4/5 = 4.57
5. Lulu 6/2/6 = 4.667
6. Courtney 5/8 = 6.5
7. Sundai 12/10/5/4/5/7/4 = 6.71
8. Kara 9/7/3/8/7/8 = 7

9. Brittany 13/4/11/7/8/5/3 = 7.29
10. Jennifer 14/12/4/10/6/6/1 = 7.57
11. Ashley 7/9/8/5/9 = 7.6
12. Rachel 8 = 8
13. Bianca 10/11/10/9 = 10
14. Lisa 11 = 11

After Week 8:
1. Nicole 1/3/1/2/4/2/2/3 = 2.25
2. Erin 2/1/2/1/2/3/7/2 = 2.5
3. Rae 3/6/9/3/3/1/6 = 4.43
4. Lulu 6/2/6 = 4.667
5. Laura 4/5/7/6/1/4/5/6 = 4.75
6. Sundai 12/10/5/4/5/7/4/4 = 6.38
7. Brittany 13/4/11/7/8/5/3/1 = 6.5
8. Courtney 5/8 = 6.5
9. Kara 9/7/3/8/7/8 = 7

10. Jennifer 14/12/4/10/6/6/1/5 = 7.25
11. Ashley 7/9/8/5/9 = 7.6
12. Rachel 8 = 8
13. Bianca 10/11/10/9 = 10
14. Lisa 11 = 11

ANTM C13, Ewhatever.

This was a really nice photoshoot, though Tyra needs to stop with the sepia...

1. Brittany: Wow… Brittany finally really impressed me. This picture is awesome. First things first, she looks quite tall, though that might just be the way she’s photographed. I think it’s an unbelievably regal photograph. I adore the look on her face and in her eyes, and she managed to turn her face to a really flattering angle. After seeing Brittany’s photos this season, I’ve learned that that’s actually not that easy to do. I didn’t watch the episode, but I have no idea how she got sent home for this photo when she’s had some truly huge clunkers in the past.
2. Erin: Everyone this week was a pretty big step below Brittany, but Erin and Nicole had strong photos as well. The way it’s photographed is kind of weird, but Erin manages to make this photo interesting nevertheless. I love the twist in her arm and the look on her face. I like how, given what could be potentially a distracting prop in the hat, she’s the one that manages to stand out.
3. Nicole: People are overreacting to this a little, but it’s a good photo. I like her approach to this photoshoot, and it’s got kind of a mystical quality to it, which is pretty awesome. That said, it’s just not that amazing a photo. It’s kind of boring and there’s something weird going on in her eyes, though quite a few girls had that this week. She was cut off at a weird point, too, though that’s not her fault.
4. Sundai: I could actually see this in some sort of fashion magazine, but it’s not the best photo. I love her body pose; it’s really elegant and she’s showing off the clothes extremely well. That said, DAMN she looks short. I mean, she is, but she looks it. Again, she’s got the weirdly haunted eyeball going on too, and it’s just a bad angle on that face.
5. Jennifer: It’s not horrible, and it’s actually one of her better photos so far, but it’s just not that great. I know a lot of it has to be the way it’s photographed, but she’s not doing anything in this photo other than staring off into the distance. Her face looks wonky. Like Erin, it’s a credit to her that she had a lot of accessories and whatnot placed on her, and she stands out, not the stuff, but her face just looks so bad here and the photo isn’t interesting.
6. Laura: I love her, but she’s been decidedly mediocre and it’s sad. She should leave soon (though definitely not before Jennifer and probably not before Sundai). She looks tall, but that’s the best thing I can say about this photo. Her pose is truly awkward; the arms holding the sticks are just horrible and she looks kind of like an amputee with the arm on the left. And her face! She doesn’t look like herself, which isn’t a bad thing, but what the hell happened to her eyeballs? It’s really creepy. I don’t like this photo at all…

on Top Chef last night...

It was really funny to see Natalie Portman cracking dick jokes and I genuinely think, while I couldn't execute the dishes cuz I can't really cook, I could come up with some better ideas for some of those dishes than what the chefs actually made. :(

Precious is gonna make me cry

So hard. ;_;

poor Jen on Top Chef

I still love this girl to bits, but she's in total meltdown mode now.

thank you Jesus

Michael and Nina will be on every episode of Project Runway next season.

Yaaayy!!!

At least the douchey guy went home on Top Chef, right?

you know this game is going badly when

I am not watching it.

Can't even blame Cliff Lee, because he's adorable, but the Yankees' bullpen? Blech...

So watching this Top Chef marathon

Heh, Ron, I loved you, but you were so friggin' clueless... that said, I'm not sure how Ashley deconstructed a pot roast either, but she did an excellent job cooking her meal, so she gets at least a bit of a pass.

the ANTM pics for this week leaked again!

I will talk about them later, obviously... but in terms of photoshoots this really has been a great cycle.

rofl

I kind of love this.

Top Chef marathon!!!

Wooooooooooooo

So it's almost Halloween

I assume that's the only reason this random channel is scaring me by showing Hairspray with John Travolta in that outfit/makeup deal/whatever. /cheapshotbutitstrue!

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

hey, Daily Show/Jon Stewart.

Let's make out because you're so awesome.

One of these days, I will have a substantial post.

Andre Agassi used crystal meth?

that's kind of disturbing :( /trulyrandom

I wanted to go for a walk today.

But instead it's pouring so I'm going to post about nothing. DEAL WITH IT Y'ALL

aagh commercials

I am tired of them. Please invent some magical world where they don't exist. No, I am not talking about Tivo.

Oh, and...

Pretty sure, other than when he did the very casual "fine, bring it on" motion after the whole "use your head/I'll hit you in the head" crap with Pedro in the 2003 ALCS (where I distinctly remember my mom actually yelling "I JUST LOVE HIM SO FRIGGIN' MUCH!!!" at the TV. She is a funny lady. And, I concur!!!), this is my favorite Jorge Posada moment ever. He is not letting go.

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE SERIOUSLY

Wonkette keeps me sane-ish in the wake of unbelievably awful shit.

booooo, Bravo. BOOOOOOO

You were supposed to be playing Top Chef now, not The Real Housewives of Wherever.

Monday, October 26, 2009

Ugh I can't believe I'm watching Spike TV

I swear it's only to watch Kill Bill, but blech.

aaargh cramps

I swear, I am just falling apart. Grrrr >:(

so Edward Norton is really hot.

Just saying. I'm watching The Painted Veil cuz it's on and damn.

Andrew Eugene.

Take a bow, Andy baby. Take a bow. (And hey there, Spike Lee.)

TV Tropes

It's a good way to waste spend like 50 hours.

the Kardashians...

they couldn't be dumber.

HELL YES

"Yankees win the pennant!"

I might have teared up when Mo and Jorge were so clearly celebrating... might have. ;) I'm sure once crazy locker room photos turn up, I will post them here. DAMN I AM SO EXCITED!!!! The Phillies are a really tough team and it's going to be a great series.

Also, haha, after Mo gets that out, it suddenly turns into Cloverfield for a minute there or something. TINO!!!!!

hilarious. I love this show!

Is Michael going as "Dick in a Box"? Awesome.

iiiiinteresting

There's gonna be a double elimination on ANTM to get to the F2. So... do the girls in the finale not do Cover Girl photos and commercials? That seems incredibly dumb, especially considering that these girls, if they get any sort of work, will be commercial/beauty-type models.

I haven't commented on this yet!

The "TOP MOOOOODELLLLLLLL!!!!!" song they play at the end of every episode of ANTM is freaking hilarious. I like how everyone insults it but that lame-ass "she moves in a different woooorrrrldddd" song from AusNTM is somehow the height of class because it's AusNTM.

yessss

I love it when I get sick whenever the weather changes. It is so awesome. Yes. >:(

oh, that should be... fun.

Apparently, on an upcoming episode of The Office, Jim and Pam go on a double date with Michael and Pam's mom. I am kind of psyched and kind of OH GOD THIS WILL BE INTERESTING AND PROBABLY NOT IN A GOOD WAY, but I love this show and they pull it off 95% of the time.

just a note

My dad thinks Law-Abiding Citizen looks "awesome" and he wants to see it with me. I have actually told him "HELL NO" about five times. He does not listen. Oh, dad.

Good movies.

The Talented Mr. Ripley is one of them.

Man, remember when I used to talk about movies like ALL THE TIME here? Maybe I should see the few things with Oscar hype, like Precious or An Education (hey Peter Sarsgaard, 'sup).

Whoah.

So MLB Network has these World Series summaries by year, and they're always interesting. Of course, I like seeing the Yankee ones. Today, they had 1996. I may have said this on this blog before, but I totally remember watching the games, even though I was 9. It was pretty upsetting to see the Yankees lose the first two games at the Stadium in embarrassing fashion, with them getting absolutely destroyed in one game and shut out in another. With the series heading to Atlanta for the next three, pretty much everyone wrote the Yankees off. But they showed remarkable resiliency, behind a David Cone pitching gem in Game 3, a miraculous comeback from being down 6-0 in Game 4, and a positively brilliant performance by Andy Pettitte in Game 5. They won Game 6 and the series in the Stadium, and I can still remember how freaking exciting it was. :)

AAAAANYWAY the point I was trying to make here was, at one point, they showed Mariano Rivera, who was barely a rookie at that time, and the setup man for John Wetteland, who had a really dirty hat. Mariano pitched, and struck some guys out... AND HE FIST PUMPED!!!! REALLY VIGOROUSLY!!!! LIKE JOBA!!!! I was cracking up!

Speaking of the '96 Yankees, I have some advice from Mariano Duncan to this year's version of the squad: "We play today, we win today. 'Das it."

why is every post on TWoP

a. something horribly, horribly, unnecessarily mean that attempts to be funny but is not.
b. "BWAH!" I JUST SPEWED (drink) EVERYWHERE!" in response to post type A.

Amelia

This looks awful.

Also, it's late-ish October. When are the Oscar-bait films coming out? Besides Saw VI, I mean.

la la la.

Lazy Saturday. Zzzzz

wow

Tough Love is so offensive and sexist and those are just the commercials...

Okay.

Glee is now officially disgustingly overexposed.

Also, thank you for being unnecessarily pretentious, random Entertainment Weekly reader! From "Pop Culture Hits We Couldn't Pay You To See":
"I refuse to read any book designated an ''OPRAH BOOK.'' Every time she recommends a new novel, millions of housewives everywhere apparently lose the ability to find a book to read on their own. And though I am not a housewife, I refuse to be blinded by that blindingly inane Oprah pick sticker."
O nos housewives!!! And hey, though I'd never read a book because Oprah recommended it, I'm looking at her website now and most of the books that she's selected and I've read are quite good, and definitely not "easy" books either.

a comment on Project Runway this season

I was trying to come up with a big summary-so-far post with the top ten best outfits and the top ten worst outfits, except... I couldn't really come up with ten I liked enough. Sad. That list, though, would include Irina and Christopher's Week 1 dresses, Shirin's maternity dress, and Gordana, Irina, and Carol Hannah's dresses from this week for sure. Irina's dress from the first week is still #1 with a bullet to me. She may be bitchy, but she is unbelievably talented.

As far as the other remaining contenders...

Althea - I don't think she should still be here. Then again, what better alternatives do we have? (SHIRIN! Come back!!!!) At least she had two pretty awesome outfits in the weeks with maternity wear and making dresses out of newspaper. She didn't deserve that one win she got, and lately she's been making cheap-looking, frumpy, ill-fitting outfits.

Carol Hannah - At the beginning, she made outfits that were generally too busy and ugly. Lately, though, she's really been a standout. She's actually improved and made some really nice outfits. She's not great, but nobody except Irina is.

Christopher - Sadly, Week 1 was his peak. He hasn't been terrible since then, but I don't remember him having a standout since then either. He seems like a nice guy and he seemed to have so much promise at the beginning, but he's slowly devolving into the suck. That said, he is years better than Logan and probably better than Althea, but he needs to step it up to deserve a finale spot (and the judges hate him now, so I don't think he's getting there).

Gordana - Quietly, she's been doing pretty well. A lot of the time, her work is only good and she has a few big EHs mixed in there, but she's got some really nice pieces, too. She seems like a lovely person to boot. The judges weirdly hate her, but I have a gut feeling she makes it to the finale, either that or she's the one eliminated right before it. It could go either way.

Irina - See what I said above. She's the most talented one there and nobody else even comes close. That Week 1 dress is still one of my favorites in Project Runway history, and IIRC, she hasn't had a real bomb of an outfit yet, either. Unless she screws the pooch really, really, really badly in the next couple of episodes, she should have a signed, sealed, delivered ticket to Bryant Park.

Logan - God, he is so awful, and he's been awful for a while. He really needs to go home, but I still think him being ZOMG SEW KYUTE!!!! will keep him around for a little bit more, though I don't think he makes the finale. Ugh...

Elimination predictions:
6. Christopher
5. Althea
4. Logan
3. Gordana
2. Irina
1. Carol Hannah

At least Nicholas isn't still here.

Ann Shoket.

I honestly don't understand the violent hostility directed toward her whenever she shows up on America's Next Top Model. Yeah, she isn't pretty and she's overly perky. In response to the first part, who cares, she's probably prettier than McKey, and in response to the second part, uh, she works for Seventeen. Is she trying to hard to be omigoshkewl? Probably, but isn't anyone over like 25?

Like, any time she shows up on TV, people are like "GOD I HATE TO GET MY BARF BAG BUT I DIDN'T MAKE IT TO THE TOILET ON TIME AND I SPEWED EVERYWHERE FUCK THAT CUNT SO HARD IN THE ASS. I ACTUALLY PUSHED MY HANDS THROUGH THAT TV AND TORE HER TO SHREDS AAAAARGHHH" Um, hello overreaction. I would find actual quotes from peoples' blogs but eh.

oh, gross

I just realized Logan is in the top six of Project Runway. Then again, wasn't Suede?

Project Runway Episode... 10

I'm just watching it now. Results-wise, this is definitely one of the best episodes of the season. NICHOLAS WENT HOME YEAAAAAAAHHHHHH. And OH HEY MICHAEL AND NINA!!!!!!!!

Althea: This is pretty bad, honestly. It looks extremely cheap, especially that jacket, which I'm pretty sure I could make. I guess I see Saint-Tropez here, but it's not great.

Carol Hannah: Love this! It's wonderfully made and it's perfect for Palm Beach. Like... it was what that beachwear challenge should have been, haha. I had to sigh at the "it's an Uli knockoff" comments. Yes, Uli is the only person who has ever made a flowy dress with that kind of fabric. She used to make really awful, overdone clothes, but lately she's been kind of great.

Christopher: This isn't that great, but Christopher deserves some credit for getting New Mexico down pat. That wasn't an easy theme, to be sure. These colors are really blah, though, and the outfit is not very flattering. I love that belt and that skirt, though. I am not a fan of the front of the sleeve things but the draped back is really nice.

Gordana: This is terrific. It's an awesome dress, and she fit New York City without doing something boring and/or black. That necklace thing is lovely as well, and a really nice touch.

Irina: I liked others better, but I can't complain about this win. Given kind of a weird location in Aspen, she came up with an absolutely gorgeous, expensive-looking, and appropriate outfit. A cowl-neck like that is hard to pull off, but man, I covet that sweater. The only flaw here, and it's kind of a big one, is that huge cut-out on the back. I don't know why she put that there. It's a great outfit, though.

Logan: Uh... it's not that great. The way he made it was okay, I guess, but it's not very flattering to the certainly skinny model. Also, I don't see Hollywood at all, which was certainly one of the easier themes this week.

Nicholas: He's gone! He's gone! He's gone! And he left in a week where he wasn't that freaking bad so I can't feel happy about it. Grr! I don't see Greece in this outfit at all, which struck me as one of the easier themes, but it's an interesting outfit. The crotch of the pants doesn't fit great, but other than that, it's nicely made. The top is gorgeous; I kind of covet it. Sigh. Ew, Nicholas.

Best to worst:
GREAT
Gordana
Carol Hannah
Irina
GOOD
Nicholas
NOT A CONTENDER AT ALL
Christopher
Logan
Althea

Just because it makes me laugh.

I tiiiiired. :(

And home on Friday night. Booooooo

Ellen...

I love you and you will never not be endlessly charming but seriously stop talking about Twitter.

THIS IS GOING TO BE AMAAAAAZING

The costumes, oh my GOD.

There's also a photo that NBC posted that I haven't seen pop up on OfficeTally yet where Pam is the lead from Rosemary's Baby (hah!!!) and Jim has "BOOK" written on his face. FACEBOOK!!!! I love it.

"The Lover"

Heeeee!!!

Pam was kind of awful during that episode... but IMO, it was pretty much justified, and hey, she's not a perfect person. Plus, I thought she showed how sweet she can be in the last scene with Jim and Pam, when she was talking to Oscar about his mother, and when she was talking to Michael at first about his date.

Ryan's fedora was totally random and yet hilarious. Also, "FRANK AND BEANS!!!!"

Blogger was down last night.

I kept trying to sign in to Blogger to complain about it. Yeah.

I'm finding it hard to care about this new Sex and the City movie :(

Really, I can't. The first one was good enough, guys.

in case you forgot

Meryl Streep is truly awesome in The Devil Wears Prada and absolutely everything else.

ANTM C13. Time for the biannual Cover Girl clusterfuck!

There wasn't ONE trainwreck-bad commercial. BOOOOOOO!!!!!

1. Jennifer: She should have left a long time ago, but this commercial is excellent and she very much deserved the FCO for this week alone. This is one of the best commercials of all time on ANTM to be honest, right up there with Analeigh and Sheena’s F7 commercials in C11. She looks absolutely gorgeous and adorable, and despite the cheesiness, she actually comes across as natural and approachable. The head bobs at the end are a little weird, but it was an excellent job overall.
2. Nicole: I thought she was going to bomb this, but she did a very good job. She can do it all! She got her lines across with personality. The only reason she’s listed under Jennifer is because I think Jennifer got that Cover Girl personality down much more, and Nicole sounded just a little bit tired and, at the beginning of the commercial, she didn’t exactly seem genuine. She did an awesome job after that.
3. Brittany: The judges were pretty much 100% right about this. Her commercial was quite good and definitely very clear, but she didn’t put any … effort or personality into it. She sounded like a robot. Plus, she kind of looks creepier and creepier by the week, to be honest. That said, considering how incredibly horrible commercials have been in the past on this show – including this cycle! – I will take robotic over totally terrible.
4. Sundai: I had to laugh at this, and not in a good way. She just delivered her lines in a totally weird manner. The judges were right that she looked a little crazy at the beginning, too. That said, she got her lines across well and clearly displayed personality.
5. Laura: Oh, Laura. I love you, but I thought this was gonna be bad and… I wasn’t really let down. She looks really pretty and all, but she just came off as so awkward and unsure of herself. The accent wasn’t even the issue because she was very understandable, but she kept sputtering and repeating what she was supposed to say. I gotta give her credit for battling through her dyslexia AND the accent, though.
6. Rae: Eeek. She’s so beautiful, but she sounded and especially looked completely lost. It was hard to concentrate on what she was saying, she looked so uncomfortable. It’s far from the worst commercial ever on the history of this show, but it’s awkward and bad.
7. Erin: If Rae was lost and awkward, I don’t know what the hell Erin was. She looked so uncomfortable throughout this commercial that I wanted to like… reach through the screen and give her a hug or something. Again, it was impossible to concentrate on what she was actually saying or the product she was selling. Awful. I’m really glad she stayed, though.

Whoah. You go, Nicole.

Awesome lady.

sigh

Is Glee so friggin' popular that it needs to get released on DVD mid-season? Ridiculous.

And another comment about Top Chef

As much as I would like to eat pretty much everything made by REVOLT (apologies for not knowing how to do the backwards E...), a chicken/calamari noodle thing? Sounds disgusting.

And there was ANTM too!

Rae is so pretty and I will miss her :( but her commercial was quite bad. And oh lord, I am glad Erin stayed! She's probably my favorite, but she's looking really busted in person lately. :(

Nicole had such a great commercial. She can do it all. Jennifer definitely deserved FCO, though; that commercial was one of the best in ANTM history.

Top Chef tonight

THANK YOU GOD JEN DID NOT GO HOME.

But... she probably should have :(

Damn, Mike V., you are kind of a dick. Your brother was being nice. Damn.

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Wow, Bravo

That was like the meanest one of those little thirty-second long clips you show during Top Chef. It was like a huge middle finger to poor Mike V.

Please don't go home, Jen or Kevin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YESSSSS

Bravo has a Top Chef Restaurant Wars marathon going on now; they're showing it from every season. Not that I haven't seen most of them before, but... I love Bravo.

Wednesdays are so awesome

RESTAURANT WARS THIS WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fanfiction-inspiring?

Oh I think so.

I sometimes (okay, always) love Wonkette.

Seriously. Like... seriously.

noooo :(

Weeks where The Daily Show and The Colbert Report are on vacation are so much worse than other weeks. Booooo

EL DUQUE!!!!

When I was like 11, El Duque was definitely my favorite Yankee, simply because he was named El Duque and was ridiculously good in every sort of big-game situation (well this was like 1998, and those were definitely years to get spoiled with the Yankees). A lot of blogs and stuff have been re-finding these commercials from the '90s that I vaguely remember and YAY, because I love them.

Also, now, I love David Cone more than life itself, and this commercial only adds to that fact.

Dexter and Californication back to back?

Yeah, it's going from AWESOME to AWFUL.

Why the hell are all of Geico's commercials unbelievably annoying?

aaargh I hate

When I forget to watch TV shows I like. Booooo

50 Movies for 50 States

Here is kind of a cool article from Rotten Tomatoes.

Alabama: Fried Green Tomatoes
I saw it a while ago, and I can't really remember it all that well. I remember it was kind of schmaltzy though. And pickled green tomatoes are where it's at, to be honest.

Alaska: Insomnia
Sure. Heh, maybe not the best representative of the state, but seeing as the only other thing that represents it at this point is Sarah Palin...

Arizona: Raising Arizona
Yes. Not creative, but yeah.

Arkansas: True Grit
Haven't seen it.

California: Point Break
... really? There are like 500 other movies you could have picked. I haven't cheated and peeked at what the New York movie is, but should I start getting worried?

And I'll finish the rest later.

ETA: Yeah, I said I would finish this, and I totally will.

Heh.

I'm sure everyone will whine about how OMG HOW BITCHY Pam is, but... I can't argue with the way she's acting, really. Michael is dating her mom!!!! I'd react the same.

holy crap

Speaking of what you can and can't say/do on TV, you can say the N-word on Comedy Central?! Maybe it's because it was after 11 but still... whoah... that's way more offensive than "fuck."

I'm gonna watch this clip forever (HA HA PUN)

It won't embed, so click-y.

Whoah, there's definitely an Erin underwear flash. o_o

and I gotta say it

At times, Where the Wild Things Are seemed like a giant furry convention. Yeah.

wow, Nip/Tuck

I swear, every episode is an adventure in what you can and cannot do on that TV station that airs the show. You can show ass, and basically the entire boob... but no nipple. You can show fairly graphic sex scenes and horrific violence/surgery images. You can say "asshole" and "shit," but not "fuck." Seriously? Just put it on HBO or man up, FX.

Where the Wild Things Are

Um... so... that was weird. I can't imagine a kid enjoying it. It was too serious and heavy. It wasn't bad or anything, it just wasn't great.

my favorite movies right now

1. Lost in Translation
2. Pulp Fiction
3. Forgetting Sarah Marshall
4. Enchanted

Yeahhhh. I have interesting taste.

WOWWWWWWWW

Another post-season game that I like, literally cannot believe happened.

A-Rod, man. Just... wow.

Saturday, October 17, 2009

I love it. ._.

When I accidentally leave up a "shower" away message for like two hours and then I get all kinds of creepy IMs. Seriously. It's awesome. Slash, not at all.

Atonement...it is a good movie.

Yeah...

AHHHH LOVE THIS

Project Runway Episode 9

Sigh. You know the deal. Chris March is crying over how lame these designs are.

Althea: It's okay. It's kind of lumpy-looking and unflattering. It's almost too drag queen, with the black feather thing going on... it definitely reminds me of one of the outfits someone made for the actual drag queen challenge last season. Actually, the more I look at it, the less I like it. It just looks cheap and ill-fitting.

Carol Hannah: This is really nice, I gotta say. It's the only great entry this week. I heard a lot of "but it's not Christina Aguilera!" and are you kidding me? It totally is. I could very much see her wearing this at the Grammys or something. Even though it's a black dress, it's still interesting, and her work with the feathers is absolutely flawless. That couldn't have been easy.

Christopher: Holy hell, this looks unbelievably cheap. The colors/shades clash, and it just looks really, really cheap. This, I can't see Christina Aguilera in. Maybe when she was younger and in her crazy "Dirty" phase, but even then... the shade of the color on those shorts is just not good with the top. I used to love Christopher, but he's really getting kind of crappy lately.

Gordana: This is pretty bad, too. Actually, it would be good if she cut out the fabric on the bottom and HELLO, MADE THE FIT ON THAT BUSTLINE BETTER JESUS HOW AWFUL. But I can kind of see Christina Aguilera in it during her "Marilyn" phase that she had a while ago... yeah. Basically, though, that bust is so beyond horrible, it's giving me a conniption.

Irina: It's so skanky. It looks like lingerie in every way, and she made it look unbelievably cheap too. Like, it didn't need to have the sparkly things on the boobs, and the slit up the thigh, and the see-through stomach. It makes it look cheap. The coat looks nice, though, but I can't really tell from the photos and don't so much remember from last night. Ugh, what does it say that this is the second-best design of the week of the ones I've gone through so far?

Logan: It's... okay. Again, I can't see Christina Aguilera today wearing some of these outfits, though she might have three or four or five years ago. I like it from the front, because I think the pattern is nice, even if it is too short, but the side isn't great.

Nicholas: This is one of the better dresses he's made so far, actually. Like many of the dresses, it's too short, and he returns to the "skanky white" thing over and over and over and over again, but compared to a lot of the other dresses this week, and a lot of other outfits he's made, it's one of the least offensive. It's well-made, I like the bodice, and I could see a starlet wearing this. If not necessarily Christina Aguilera today, sigh.

Shirin: Shirin, girl, I love you, and you had one of the best portfolios so I don't think you should have gone, but damn, this was a disaster. The bust is really nicely fitted and I like the handling of the straps, but the rest of it is hideous. She's got a huge stomach pooch and the bottom is just a horrendous mess. Christopher should have gone home over her for sure, based on their portfolios, but this is without a doubt the worst outfit this week. Kills me to say that. :(

CAN A GIRL GET SOME COLOR THIS WEEK?! Seriously. A nice deep blue would have been good.

Best to Worst:
Carol Hannah
Nicholas
Logan
Irina
Gordana
Althea
Christopher
Shirin

Guys.

I know I've said Project Runway is bad this season but Project Runway is really, really bad this season.

SIGH

Survivor is still bad, though notably better since Ben left. I can actually stand Russell. Hmmm.

"Mafia"

GUYYZZZZZZ I love The Office. All of the episodes this season have been so awesome so far. And this one didn't even (well, barely) had Jim and Pam in it!! Love it. And I love Kevin!!!!!

Oh God, I weird myself out.

So I found a baseball slash community and there was a Mets story involving blood play where John Maine was doing these little cuts all over Oliver Perez's body after Perez's God-awful performance in the game versus the Phillies where he lasted like a third of an inning and gave up six runs or something. Anyway, is it wrong that my first thought wasn't "weird" or "this is badly written" (which it kinda was) or anything like that, but "Don't do that, John! The Mets don't need any more injuries!!!!"

Yeah.

The Box

Damn this movie looks bad. Like, James Marsden, you're cute, but I dunno if I wanna see you and Cameron Diaz "act" all agonized over pushing a button for two hours or whatever.* Plus, I think it's directed by the guy who did Donnie Darko and Southland Tales. Gross. And isn't the "twist" in the story that pushing the button kills the last person who had the box and gives you their million, and then the creepy guy comes by again and takes the box from you? Yeah.

* I shouldn't insult these two so snidely. I have really enjoyed some performances by them. That said, they are much, much, much better in comedic roles than dramatic ones.

you all know I love Pink...

But a. I forgot how bad "Family Portrait" was (sorry) and b. that it has the lyric "your pain is painful" or something like that. OUCH.

Guys, I love Eurotrip.

I love it so, so much.

SCOTTY DOESN'T KNOW! SCOTTY DOESN'T KNOW!!!

woooo ANTM callouts!

I feel like my write-ups this week are really horrendous but... deal with it?

1. Rae: I just want to say that every girl did very well this week, except maybe the last girl on my list, and even there, she wasn’t horrible. Anyway, OH MY GOD, I love Rae’s photo. I’m sure some may hate the over-intensity in her eyes and face in general, but that’s what makes me adore it. Her poses are engaging, active, and creative. She’s working with the prop very well. And that face… I still love it!!! My lone issue with this photo is the same with almost all the photos this week, and it’s that she isn’t really elongating her body at all. It’s always important to do that, but especially so when you’re as darn short as these girls are.
2. Nicole: She’s just divine when it comes to modeling. All three of these photos are quite strong. That’s… really all I can say. My only problem with this photo is that two of her poses, specifically the two framing the middle one, are just not that flattering. They definitely make her ass look bigger than it is, frankly. Oh, and I don’t love the face of the photo on the right. The flaws are like an afterthought, though. She’s really a warrior goddess here. Not only does she look like a model, she looks like she could be in, I dunno, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, too. Awesome.
3. Erin: I absolutely love the intensity she has going on here. Her face is flawless in all three photos, and she looks so strong, it could have been easy for her to have a weirdly screwed-up face. Her face is even great in the upside-down photo. She works the sword accessories extremely well and came up with interesting, dynamic poses. My only issues are mostly nitpicking. Like, the upside-down pose… it’s just weird, and her face is a little too similar in all the photos. She also looks kind of short in the photos, which is an obvious problem. That said, all three of the photos are really good and this was a performance she can be proud of, as usual.
4. Laura: She’s still love. And yay, her photos have been good for two weeks in a row!!! I like her poses here, especially that one on the left. I think she had one of the more difficult accessories and worked with it extremely well. She’s only not higher because her face in the middle shot looks crazy, and not in a deliberate, fashionable way like Rae, and I find her pose and face in the right photo kind of unconvincing. I love the action in her shots, though, and the way she elongated herself. Hopefully, she keeps up the ass-kicking photos she’s had lately.
5. Brittany: I didn’t understand the “this is so sexy” critique at all (well, it wasn’t really a critique in a negative way, the judges just commented on it), but it’s a good photo. She brought a lot of energy to her poses and I think she’s one of the few girls who actually looked kind of taller, at least in that photo on the right. She’s not higher in the call-out because she still has some facial weirdness going on with her photos, and while her poses are definitely good, I don’t know how original they are compared to some of the other girls’. Oh, and the sword holding in the photo on the left is making me giggle cuz it’s like… cutting off her butt. Overall, I dunno how much this group of photos “popped” compared to others, if that makes any sense. Still, she did a good job overall, though, along with so many of the other girls.
6. Jennifer: I know she’s toward the bottom this week, but this is definitely her best picture since the “Make Me Tall” photoshoot, and one of two actually good photos she’s had in the entire competition. It’s just less good than other girls’. All three of her poses are exciting and dynamic, and the photo in the middle is pretty darn glorious. I like how two of her photos are “framing” the middle photo. That said, she’s toward the bottom because her face, as usual, really lets her down here, especially in the two side photos. She looks like an ugly skull in those, and her expression seems odd. Her face is fine in the middle photo, which is really great.
7. Sundai: It’s not bad at all, but it’s not amazing like quite a few of these other photos. The judges were right in that all three of these photos are really similar, but none of them seem to be playing off each other in a particularly strong way, like many of the other girls did. Her poses are okay, but she looks kinda short in all of them. I mean, she is, but she looks particularly stumpy in, for example, the one on the right. Additionally, her face, in every photo, is just dull and uninspiring, which isn’t good considering it was supposed to be an exciting action shot. But Sundai definitely has some athletic skills going on in these photos, and she can, overall, be proud of what she did this week.
8. Kara: Sorry to say, but Kara was the worst by miles this week. Her poses are pretty dynamic other than the boring one in the middle, and I definitely don’t see a girl who just gave up like the judges accused her of doing. She’s putting effort into those poses, though they’re not original. Where she really loses it is in the face. She looks totally lost, baffled, and uncomfortable in her face in all of the photos, and she’s not really working with the prop too well either (like, look at the photo on the right… she’s just… holding it up. Yeah.). It’s not a horrible photo, but compared to the other girls, Kara was significantly worse.

Top Chef tonight!

I don't like pork and I kind of hate myself for finding Robin far more obnoxious than Eli. Kevin is so awesome. I'm sure TWoP is freaking out because there was one scene where Jen was sitting on the couch next to douchey Mike and appeared to be OMG having a normal conversation with her!!!! ZOMG NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

More later. Maybe.

ANTM tonight!

Haha one of the agencies had a really dumb name. And though I'd seen the photos before, they were still pretty awesome. The bottom two, even though it was unspoiled this week, was completely unsurprising. Go Nicole!!!

More later.

The Daily Show is back y'all. Probably.

Lately, I don't think The Daily Show has been as good or as interesting as it can be. Like, compare it to last year at this time... then again, news in the political world has been either really boring or beyond depressing. However, this was awesome:

Fox sucks.

Oooh! Wednesdays!!!

Top Chef!!! And America's Next Top Model!!!! And I can actually watch them this week without having a hernia wondering what's going on with the Yankees!!!!!!!

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH.

"I grew up in a college town, and one Halloween our doorbell rang and we opened the door expecting to see trickortreater—but what was in front of our open door—was another door! Like, a full-on wooden door, that had a sign that said “Please knock.” So we did, and the door swung open to reveal a bunch of college dudes dressed as really old grandmothers, curlers in their hair, etc, who proceeded to coo over our “costumes” and tell us we were “such cute trick or treaters!” One even pinched my cheek. Then THEY gave US candy, closed their door, picked it up and walked to the next house. MLIA"

MLIA >>> FML (though they're both good)

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

Oh, Entertainment Weekly

On the front page of your website, you currently have an article titled "The Hangover: Oscar Contender?" The basic gist of it is "ZOMG TEN MOVIES ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN FOR REALZ!!!!" Yeah. Anything can happen. Anything except The Hangover getting nominated for Best Picture.

The Men Who Stare at Goats

This movie looks awesome. It also looks a LOT like Burn After Reading, which makes it look all the more awesome.

Chesley Sullenberger is the coolest person ever.

I am serious about this. Nobody is cooler. Maybe Obama. Maybe.

Hooray/confusion.

Various channels basically play The Office non-stop now, since the hundred episodes (or rather, half-hours) put it into syndication. YAAAAAAY. That said, the fact that all of these channels play the episodes hideously out of order - they'll play "Halloween," then the second half of "The Job," then "The Client" - annoys me so very much. Correct order! It's not that difficult!

Oh, Heidi Klum.

You had your baby. A daughter. Congrats!

...and you named her Lou. Seriously? That is the least feminine name ever.

nothin' on TV

Also, is it really only Tuesday? Boo-runs.

The Painted Veil is so terrific.

Just reiterating. How did that movie not have a tag here until now? It's so much better than I expected it to be in every way.

Horribly mean and probably classist? Yes. Amazingly funny? Even more so!

Nip/Tuck

This show is beyond fucked up and really terrible at this point but it has the best commercials ever.

I still love Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Totes always will. <3333

stupid Project Runway

Apparently they are having a "Columbus Day Project Runway" marathon. I don't even know why I'm watching this. :( Maybe because the first few episodes were actually the best ones.

ETA: OMG I totally forgot the crazy "the pregnant lady is an egg" guy

AAAH IT'S SO PERFECT

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Yeah I don't think something can technically (I mean grammar-wise) be "so" perfect. Suck it! This is amazing!!!

Bon Jovi

I just realized I don't like him much at all any more. Like, the country music he makes now is totally awful and he sucks at it.

I wonder why "Get Low" is in my head.

Covered. In. It. Getting. It. Poured. On. Him.

Ohhhh skeet skeet motherfuckaaaaahh oh skeet skeet goddamn!

Wow, it's 1 AM?

It doesn't feel like it at all. Then again... I don't sleep.

A-Rod: Seriously Amusing Me.

First, at his press conference, holy shit his hands are HUUUUUGE. They are bigger than his head. He also answered my unasked question about whether he can speak Spanish or not (he can).

Secondly, OH MY GOD, THIS KILLED ME during YES' post-game show:

Peekaboo!!!

(And THANK YOU for your ALDS contributions, Alex. I know better than to blame you entirely for the Yankees' way-too-early playoff exits of the past few years, but it's nice to see what you can do when you really kick it up a notch.)

WHY

Is Marge Simpson on the cover of Playboy. ????

Yay, more Project Runway...

Lifetime's website for Project Runway is, as ever, pretty much the only awesome thing about this season. MEH.

Althea: It's undoubtedly cute, but it's not all that flattering. There's too much going on and it's all wrinkly and whatnot. I'm surprised Carol Hannah didn't make this, because she's normally the one that likes all this weird frippery. I say that every time someone makes a too-busy dress. But it's true!

Carol Hannah: Speaking of Carol Hannah, homegirl was robbed this week. She keeps getting better, which is a nice surprise, because I thought a lot of her early stuff wasn't good at all. It's super cute and well made. Yay?

Christopher: Heh, I see Laura Bennett in his model. Anyway, yeah. Not that great. It looks like a bag you put in the microwave to heat up popcorn. It's not HIDEOUS like a lot of people are saying, but it's not flattering at all. I see what he was trying to do, but it didn't work.

Epperson: His elimination was bullshit but this really isn't a very good dress. It's cute, but it's very sloppy-looking. Ugh, that hem. But again, he didn't deserve to go home because somebody else was like 800000 times worse with a much worse portfolio.

Gordana: Despise the styling, but this dress is so awesome. I love the details and that fit is totally flawless. The judges still have it out for her (did you notice when she won, Heidi said something like, "Good job, Gordana, this time." WTF?), but I was so happy she won.

Irina: It's pretty good. I can't argue with it being in the top. It's a little matronly for me, especially the sleeves, which are what I think really bug me, but then again, this is for a woman that is... well... older than I am. Also, I dunno how much I like that belt, but eh.

Logan: This is a horrific, unflattering, shittily made mess and it's appalling that he didn't go home for this, no matter how cute he is. That is all.

Nicholas: Is this a bad angle? Because I don't remember this from the show at all, and at this angle, it seems really appallingly bad, like along the same lines as Logan's outfit. The fit of the pants is all weird and I just don't get either of the top things. So... yeah.

Shirin: I love Shirin, but I have no idea why this was in the top group. Well... I mean... it was one of the better entries, I guess, but that's really not saying much, Carol Hannah and Gordana are the only two I would have even considered giving the win to this week. It's just so basic and not even all that flattering. Plus the thing in the back looks weird. Ugh, there's nothing to say about this, it's just so blah.

Best to worst:
Carol Hannah
Gordana
Irina
Althea
Shirin
Christopher
Epperson
Nicholas
Logan

Boooooo

SNL doesn't have enough commercials for The Office during its breaks. Boooooooo!

Whip It

This looks like Juno never got pregnant and had a baby but instead turned into a girl obsessed with roller skating. Oh, and I think it has Kristin Wiig in it, so I won't be seeing it.

Wow, Saturday Night Live, you are so bad...

Kanye's shrug.

IT KILLS ME, GUYS. EVERY TIME. It's my favorite part of this whole thing.

I love this.

Somehow, watching the 2009 MTV VMAs never gets old. Ooh, it's time for Taylor Swift to get her award and then be rudely/hilariously interrupted right... now!

"Smells Like Teen Spirit"

It's uh, hard to understand

I can't believe I forgot this!

Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize, and his obviously overwhelmed reaction to it? FUCKING AWESOME. I could not love him more. And guys, it's supposed to be sort of an encouragement toward peace, not a "yaaay you saved the world" award. The commentary on this has been hilarious in its predictability.

Oh, I forgot to talk about Survivor this week

I turned on the show fifteen minutes before the end... and... I didn't see Russell H. or Foa Foa once. WHAT THE HELL? I am so confused.

That, and the return of the GLORIOUS EATING TERRIBLE FOOD CHALLENGE next week. I may be excited about Survivor for the first time this season. Wow.

OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD.

DID THAT GAME REALLY HAPPEN???!?!?!??!?!!?!?!?

I just... I... words... I know it's several hours later, but... OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDD I'M STILL INCOHERENT!!!!!

still all sniffly, in a good way, about last night.

And now I can actually listen to "Forever" while smiling. Awww. :)

America's Next Top Model C13 E5 photos.

Full disclosure, I watched like ten minutes of the episode, scattered here and there. So I dunno what happened. I'll just rank the photos.

1. Laura: Yay, Laura!! I told you to step it up and you totally did. Wooooo! Her pose is super hot and interesting while not being totally weird, hoochie, or unflattering. She’s also showing off the clothing very well, too. She also looks hella tall. And I freaking love her face here, too. It could very easily look drunk or something, but she manages to get the perfect angle. It’s really sensual but not in an over-the-top way. Yaaay Laura!!!
2. Erin: She misses the #1 call-out because it’s not exactly an original pose or anything, but it’s still a good photo from Erin. As for the pose, she looks tall, it’s flattering to her body, she shows off the dress well, and it’s got some interest/edge to it with what she’s doing with her arms and legs. Her face is great as pretty much always. So, yeah. Pretty and a strong photo, if not exactly exciting.
3. Rae: Though you can’t see her all that well, I think she totally owned her group’s photo. You can tell her pose is pretty strong, even if she’s blocked by the other people in the photo. In my opinion, she definitely stood out more than Brittany did. And I fucking ADORE her face here, which is really what pushes her up so high for me. Tell me you don’t see Lady Gaga in this photo. How freaking fabulous! Love it. And the oomph in her eyes is awesome.
4. Nicole: Why is she in between that guy’s legs o_O Anyway, after Rae, there’s kind of a drop in quality, though I think Nicole and Sundai at least did a good job, Jennifer and Kara had decent photos, and the bottom two were the only bad ones. She manages to have a sitting position while still looking long and lean, which isn’t easy. Nicole really is just a model. That said, her face is tipped back just a bit too far. You’re basically looking up her nostrils, and that’s not flattering to anyone. I think Nicole’s pulling it off as well as anyone could, but it’s just not THAT great.
5. Sundai: Her pose is really cute, even if she looks, you know, short. She’s doing something interesting (not sure if I’m crazy about the “walk like an Egyptian!” thing going on, but she’s trying) and the dress and shoes look super cute. The face… eh. It’s not a very good angle or expression in close-up, but from far away, I think she looks decent. It’s not amazing, but it’s not anything to be ashamed about either.
6. Jennifer: It’s okay. I like her pose, even if it makes her look fairly stumpy. I like how she’s sitting, but still manages to look like she has some energy in that pose. That’s not easy to do, so… wooooo for her. That said, she’s really let down by her face. The expression is terrible. She looks sort of like she’s falling asleep, and sort of like she’s drunk, and sort of like she’s preparing to attack or something. Urgh, it’s really bad. With a better face, this might have been one of the best photos of the week.
7. Kara: It’s not great. Her pose is okay, but she looks really stiff and uncomfortable in the way her arms are placed, and then it’s just too posey in the legs. She shows off the dress really well, at least, and she looks tallish. The face, eh. She looks old and kind of confused. Those huge eyebrows didn’t help anyone at all…
8. Brittany: I’m getting kind of tired of Brittany’s mediocrity. She is way overpraised. That pose is… okay. I see what she was trying to do there, but it was extremely unflattering to her body and she looks very uncomfortable as well. Additionally, her body appears to be very broad and totally shapeless. Part of that is the outfit’s fault, but she could have picked a better pose for sure. The face is truly bad, though. She looks like an ugly version of Helena Bonham-Carter. The styling with the eyebrows and the hair doesn’t help, but the way she’s holding her face, and her open mouth, are what make the unflattering aspects really bad.
9. Ashley: Brittany’s might not have been very good, but this was, without question, the worst photo of the week. It’s really bad. Her pose is simultaneously lazy and unflattering; yeah, she’s just standing there, but it makes her body look much more broad. Her face… it looks really bad. She just looks old and like she’s falling asleep. Ugh, she just looks so old and fat here. Sorry, Ashley.

Next week's photos leaked too, so I might talk about them here before the episode actually airs. I know you're all waiting with bated breath.

Jude Law: Accomplished Actor.

Awesome. He's great. And... you know... pretty.

Love.

Link: (Untitled)

So, so much love. That minute where Jim snips his tie is one of my all-time favorite moments on this show.

If there's one complaint I have about this episode, it's that I wanted more sap from Pam. That's about it. Oh, and I didn't like the puking because uh, it made me want to puke. And Jim's brothers are still unlikable jerks. Other than that, though? Loooove.

I love you, Colbert.

No one is better at taking on Glenn Beck. No one. Also, in this clip they keep showing of him, he has a really fabulous shirt/tie combo (Beck, not Colbert). Ew, it pains me to say that.

Still hyped up.

I WANNA LIKE GO PARTY OR SOMETHING GUYYYSSSSS

Is it really only/already Thursday? Sigh

John Lester. ;_;

Look, I am obviously not a Red Sox fan, but his story almost makes me cry. Like, I just flipped over to the game to see Torii Hunter's 3-run home run against him (I LOVE TORII HUNTER!!! Seriously, I do. Except when he's robbing Yankees of home runs. It was funny when he lost his shoe at Yankee Stadium and made a dent in the wall.), and they were talking about how he was on the DL at the beginning of 2007 because he was "still weak from cancer" and my reaction was ACTUALLY TEARING UP.

I think I am still emotional from The Office, y'all! ;_;

Seriously, how can you hate this? :D

Ugh, why does Pam look dead in this screenshot? That's my only issue with it.
Anyway. Enjoy it, you two.
ETA: Then again, if Jim Halpert was my boyfriend/fiance/HUSBAND!!!!, I think I'd die of happiness too. :D

ugh

Seriously, how bad is Project Runway this season? It's so boring. I'm just gonna hope it's some awkwardness from the legal woes but... uh....... it's just not good.

And Nicholas can't go home this episode because he's not in the bottom group, which makes it even more TERRIBLE AND BAD. >:(

ETA: WTF HOW DID LOGAN STAY AND EPPERSON LEAVE o_O
Double ETA: NINA'S BACK NEXT WEEK!!!! This gives me a little bit of joy. Seriously.

also... seriously?!

How did reading spoilers ruin peoples' enjoyment of this episode? It was still awesome. I had read every spoiler, and there were several things I didn't see coming (OMG, Jim cutting his tie made me tear up for reals)... I just... I loved it.

JIM AND PAM ARE MARRIED, GUYSSSSSSS :D

OF COURSE

People are bitching that the episode wasn't The Jim and Pam Show. OMG I loved it. I may have cried. I love the fact that they balanced out the office crazy with the loveliness of just... them.

Sniffle. ;_;

A LITTLE MORE THAN THREE HOURS!!!!!!

SHRIEK!!!! SHRIEK!!!!! SHRIEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I'm a little amped up. :D :D :D :D :D

Guys. Guys. GUYS!!!!!

TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I seriously cannot get over the fact that Jim and Pam are going to be MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

even more gross male behavior

So now that I'm watching the episode, this Mike I. guy on Top Chef is... uh... a douchewad, huh? I think I called him charming once. EWW I take that back, apologies.

speaking of bad male behavior!

This David Letterman thing. Look... I like David Letterman. I think he's generally pretty funny. The thing with his interns makes him a total slimebucket. That said, a lot of people are like "OMG he RAPED that girl." No. No. No. No. There is no evidence of that - not even of coercion - and you do not fucking throw that word around.

I hate people sometimes :(

oh geez

Yeah, old news, I know. Still, can you imagine what the reaction would be if, the night before some major game, A-Rod went out drinking with players from the opposing team, came back to his house ridiculously drunk, got into a fight with Kate Hudson (the anti-Jessica Simpson! Whenever she's at a game he does amazing!) that left them both visibly beat up, was carted away by police, then had to be picked up at the police station at 6 AM by Brian Cashman? JESUS JARED CHRIST.

Yes, Jared is Jesus' middle name.

Anyway, the entire situation makes me want to throw up. It's really gross. I know it happens all the time, but shit like that shouldn't.

AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE (girly shriek)

THE WEDDING IS TODAY!!!!!

Go ahead, guess...

But seriously, how many posts do I have titled "Wow." or "wow" or whatever? I counted two this month just skimming the list. Durrrrr

AHHHHHH STOP

On Television Without Pity they're shipping Mike V. and Jen from Top Chef. NO. STOP IT. Didn't you all blow a gasket when Leah and Hosea hooked up last season? Yes. You did. Stop with your nonsense, TWoP. That... just goes in general. Heh.

ooh

Natalie Portman's going to be on Top Chef in a few weeks!

I didn't watch this week's show, actually. Too busy with baseball /lame. I'll catch it at like 1 AM.

this Dodgers/Cardinals game...

It's like a battle as to who can be more unexpectedly terrible (the two teams, or, uh, the awful audio feed).

I WANT THEM/my feet hurt

Awesome
More awesome

Wind!

There is a lot of it right now!

sooooo

there is a lot of TV to watch tonight. o_O

MOTHER OF GOD, WHAT A GAME.

I kind of feel bad for the Tigers, except...
1. 2006 sucked.
2. Any time there's a horrible collapse from now on, I get to be all excited that maybe when talking about teams that choked horribly, people won't think "the 2004 Yankees" first!!!*
3. This means we don't have to face Justin Verlander twice in a five-game series, the second time in an elimination game. YAY!!!!!!

Well, you had a nice run, Twins, but it's coming to an end now. Here we go, Yankees...

* to be fair, the Tigers didn't so much collapse as the Twins got really hot. This isn't nearly as bad as the 2007 Mets. Still, a three-game lead with four to go? You should close that shit out!

I never commented on the Project Runway outfits.

Shows how interesting this season/that episode was... but I might as well do it now, right?

I might have said this before, but this was really the lamest challenge in Project Runway history. "Make something blue." You gotta be kidding me. I mostly forget who worked with who (was the group thing even necessary?), so I'll just judge the designs individually.

Althea: In a way, Althea's design is actually really cute. I like the jacket a lot; actually, the entire top half is great. The only issue is a big one. Uhhhh, that skirt. It's far too short and tight. This could have been a decent office look with a longer skirt. Instead, she just looks incredibly cheap. Credit to her for noticing that it was too short, but uh, she should have done something to fix it.

Carol Hannah: If I'm remembering correctly, she won or was in the high group in one week (I think it was the "make a pretty dress... FOR YOUR MODEL!" week as opposed to "make a pretty dress... FOR THE RED CARPET!" week or the "make a pretty dress... FOR A PREGNANT LADY!" week or the "make a pretty dress... THAT COULD BE IN A MOVIE!" week. Dammit. That last one didn't go along with the "pattern" of the others :( ) for a similar design, but I like this much, much better. It's a lot more flattering. It's kinda simple, yeah, but I almost see a Mad Men thing going on, which is obviously very in right now. I love the colors. I'm not sure about the shoes and the high waist thing only works on some people, but when that's all the complaints I really have, it's not bad at all.

Christopher: Uhhh... ummmmm... it's a disappointment considering how talented he is. We've seen this from him before in his maternity outfit, but that was a lot cuter somehow. This is not flattering and while I like the white thing, the blue crinkles around the neck are eh. Overall, though it's so boring, so completely lacking in anything, that I don't really have much to say. Oh, those bracelets are terrible.

Epperson: Bad. Bad bad bad. It's a criminally sloppy shirtdress, the hem is weird, the neckline is unflattering, and that fabric looks CHEAP. I like the necklace, though. Really. That's the only good thing I can say about this. Oh, and it wasn't the worst of the week! Isn't that kind of scary?

Gordana: Other than it being maybe THE MOST BORING LOOK IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, it's fine. Actually, looking at it now, maybe not. Like, I've seen people in tops more flattering than the one this girl has on. The ruching (spelling?) just looks really bad, cheap, and unflattering. And I think I hate the sleeves.

Irina: It's a really pretty, nicely made dress. Um, that's about all I have to say. The win wasn't undeserved. This is probably the best outfit of the week. Congrats?

Logan: This is just gross. The entire thing looks almost unbelievably sloppy, it's incredibly unflattering, and... uh... IT'S NOT EVEN BLUE. GODDAMN IT, LOGAN, HOW HARD WAS IT TO MAKE SOMETHING BLUE?!?!?! EPIC FAIL. Remember when I said Epperson's wasn't the worst of the week? Yeah.

Louise: Seriously? This is what the judges freaked out over? This is... cute. It's made well. It's flattering. Yeah, the ruffles are like "HEY HERE WE ARE AND WE ARE RUFFLES!!!" but compared to the multitude of horrors seen this week, it's actually quite good.

Nicholas: Aaaand here is where the ruffles just don't work. Holy cow, this is terrible. Looking at it... I'm pretty sure Epperson's design wasn't even the second worst this week. It fits HORRIBLY, the fabric looks BEYOND cheap, and the ruffles, WHAT THE HELL. Oh my gosh, this is REALLY bad. And I wouldn't put it pass that slimebucket Nicholas to sabotage Louise. Ugh.

Shirin: It's really cute and while simple, still interesting. I don't like those kind of belts, but even that works here. And normally I think I'd hate the twee little sleeves, but Shirin makes even those work here. Good job?

Ranked, best to worst:
ACTUALLY GOOD
Irina
Shirin
Louise
Carol Hannah
YEAH... MAYBE NOT
Althea
Gordana
Christopher
TOTALLY EMBARRASSING. SERIOUSLY, GO HOME AND THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU DID.

WEIRD

Today I discovered that my mom had never heard "I Gotta Feeling" until like... 7 PM tonight. I think I heard that the song has been #1 since like June 19 or something. Ridiculous. Where has she been living? o_O

RANDOM MAZEL TOV REFERENCE!!!!!

things I am truly grateful for:

1. Febreze

I'm slow.

I just got the "Lord Farkward" thing from Shrek. Like, I saw it when I was 15 or 16 or so, and I thought it was supposed to be a lame play on FARTwad. Durrrrr.

Wow.

I totally saw this commercial while watching The Daily Show last night. It's, uh, special and amazing.

David Duchovny,

Your acting sucks in Evolution. Then again, Evolution itself more or less sucks, except the fact that it turns itself into a bizarre product placement at the end. That's kind of hilarious.

things I shouldn't do before bed:

1. look at food porn =/

I guess I forgot to talk about this

Padma's preggers!

I enjoy the most crude terms to describe pregnancy, I swear. I think I'm gonna tell my future husband or whoever "Honey, I'm knocked up!" Anyway - congrats to her!

Hmmm about The Invention of Lying

Supposedly it's not actually a better-than-average romantic comedy, it's a dark comedy that basically attacks religion and isn't really very funny. So... Religulous with a slightly less smug Bill Maher (I'm the only one who finds Ricky Gervais mostly insufferable)? Yeah, I think I'll pass.

hahaha sometimes I love The Daily Show

They're talking about the infuriating Spanish lisp. Hilarious. AND THEY MENTIONED BLAGO YAYYYYYY

wow.

You know... sometimes in life you look at the time and you realize you've been watching Kortnie and Khloe Take Miami for like two hours. FML.

I have wanted to post this since 4:00 or thereabouts but Blogger was down.

I cannot believe Ellen called Jason Schwartzman "talented." Ewwwww

ohhhh Jude Law

You are so pretty. So so very pretty. Like... too pretty? Probably. Definitely too skinny for me (you all know I like boys that look like slabs of beef or something), not that I am really complaining.

Also, a good actor! Hamlet was pretty good - I liked its minimalist approach, and I appreciated that, I dunno, nobody was delivering their monologues underwater or buried up to their necks in sand or something - but it got slightly tedious. Then again, it is Hamlet, and it was really, really cold in the theater. Brrrr my footsies froze. Anyway, yeah, a good production and I recommend it.

I kind of love this.

20 Moments That Said It All for the Yankees and Mets.

I may have said this before, but I am not a Mets hater. If they make it to the World Series again (which I'm sure they will some day), I will root for them in any situation, except if they're playing the Yankees. That said, oh Jesus, this season for the Mets was hilariously amazing to watch, to say the least. It wasn't painful like the past two seasons, where they got eliminated from playoff contention on the last day. It was just a hilarious, tragic clusterfuck. At the least, it was entertaining. Like, what the hell was this? And that was back when the Mets and the Yankees had similar records and the Mets were still very much in playoff contention. Also, the Mets did all kinds of comical things like staying at the same hotel as a major furry convention. Seriously. Yeah.

oops

I forgot to watch hot-ass Ryan Reynolds and crazy-ass Lady Gaga on Saturday Night Live! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Saturday, October 03, 2009

Ooh!

I almost forgot that tomorrow I am going to see the Jude Law Hamlet on Broadway. No, I'm not going because Jude Law's in it; it got great reviews and I honestly like the play. I'll be back with my "review"... and I'm sure you're all really excited. Wooooo

unfy

" Not even Johnny Damon, a straight shooter, has the kind of edge to his personality that Teixeira displayed. One Yankee insider said, 'Tex doesn’t show it in public, but he’s got some Tino [Martinez] and Paulie [O’Neill] in him. You should see him in the dugout. Him and A.J. [Burnett]. They’ve both got [tempers].' "

When I was like eight or ten, I remember being genuinely scared of Paul O'Neill because he was SO INTENSE!!!! about EVERYTHING!!!!!! But was Tino always angry? Huh.

Anyway, Tex is hot, may be hotter if he's got one hell of a temper about baseball, and I'm glad he's not injured after that asshole Ray pitcher hit him. :(

I am gonna cry. ;_;

That said, a Daniel Powter song? Ewwwwwwwww

AIEEEEEEEEEEE STILL EXCITED

Michael is totally gonna lead the office in that dance from that video with "Forever," isn't he? Awesome.

randomly bleeding from the foot

I do not approve. :(

AHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Between the playoffs and THE WEDDING next week just might kill me.

things I don't really care about, despite the fact that I love crappy gossip magazines:

- Jon & Kate Plus Eight
- Jessica Simpson's many troubles
- anything related to people with the last name "Kardashian"*
- anything having to do with Twilight or its stars
- especially, anything having to do with Gossip Girl or its stars

*though their show is hilarious

baseball: there are too many statistics involved.

Yeah.

totally random observation

The music at the Dodgers' stadium (yeah I could look it up, but I'm not going to SO THERE) is fantastic.

el reality TV anoche

That's probably not correct Spanish

Anyway, Survivor, WOW!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I might be able to watch now, because Ben definitely made the show the absolute worst. Like, Russell is a dick, but he is at least kind of a smart dick, and not blabbering on about racism in some horrible way.

As for Project Runway, all things considered, this has not been a very good season. :( Like, that was the lamest challenge in PR history. I will rank the stuff later but... ehhhhhhh

funny stuff

I know this is old, but I just found it so yeah, and I kind of love A-Rod because he is so dumb.

"Andy is one of the greatest human beings I’ve ever met. I have two daughters — well, I have one and one on the way. If I had a daughter, I would want ‘em to marry Andy Pettitte. The age difference might be a little awkward, but in today’s day and age anything is possible."

Like, what? I know I'm supposed to hate him and whine about how overpaid and unclutch he is and how he ruined the team!!! and omg he did steroids nobody else in sports ever did, ever!!!! but I can't help it. Every time I see a quote from him, I laugh.

oh yeah, The Office tonight

It was definitely my least favorite episode of the season so far, but hey, it's only three episodes deep, and it was at least pretty good. I didn't like how Jim seemed both mean-spirited and incompetent at the same time but... you know. It was funny. The beans were cracking me up.

But really just OH MY GOOOODDDD I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL NEXT WEEK :D :D :D :D :D

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The Kanye West/Lady Gaga tour got cancelled? Ugh, I wanted to go for the crazy alone. ;_;

Hmmm

Joe Nathan, the great closer for the Minnesota Twins
&
Hosea Rosenberg, winner of Top Chef (the guy)

Like, they look exactly alike, right?

sometimes I hate myself

Whenever I see commercials for Sherri Shephard's (spelling?) new show on Lifetime or whatever, I think it looks funny. And um, see title of this entry.

Ugh Joy Behar why did you say "dildos" on The Daily Show, that was not necessary

AAAAH YAAAAY

Kill Bill 3 in 2014? YES! And hey, let's face it, at this rate, it'll probably be out before Sin City 2.

ANTM C13 Week 5

1. Erin: Oh, Tyra and your insane love of all things sepia. Anyway, great photo and it totally matches the theme of the shoot, which was a beauty shot, so I anoint it best of the week. Heh, that was… pretentious. She really came through on all levels here. Her hand and body could have looked awkward, but they didn’t. The facial expression here is perfect. That’s about all I gotta say, it’s a good picture by a good model.
2. Nicole: Wow. The only reason this isn’t higher is because I don’t know if she followed the objective of the photoshoot – a beauty shot, after all – as well as Erin did, but it’s another really fantastic photo from this girl. It’s such a fashion pose and her face is really flawless. She manages to utilize her outfit/other styling while still making sure her facial expression is the most important part of this shot. Her jawline is pretty insane, in a good way. Oh, I don’t like the fact that it looks like she’s feeling herself up, but other than that, it’s just a great photo. The top two this week were excellent.
3. Rae: I don’t like the way her neck is straining, but other than that, wow. She really nails the whole ethereal thing, and her face just looks flawless here. The expression on her face is both fashionable and interesting. That’s… all I gotta say. Good photo for Rae.
4. Sundai: Sundai is definitely improving, so yaaaay. This photo is kind of boring, but it fulfills the brief and her styling wasn’t as interesting and/or dynamic as others, so that’s not entirely her fault. The wonk-eye, though? It probably is, and that’s not good. Still, I like this photo. Even if Rae pulled off the soft and pretty thing much better, Sundai did that, too. Props to her.
5. Ashley: I actually like this photo, even if it’s not exactly great. It’s really simple but she brought a nice vibe to it. The photo actually reminds me of Tahlia’s paint beauty shot from last cycle, which I openly admit I adored. I thought it had an impact despite being so simple. Ashley’s photo, while good and simple like that one, lacks Tahlia’s oomph (did you ever think that sentence would be said? Nope). Like, there’s just sort of a dullness and heaviness over the whole photo. But it’s nice.
6. Laura: I could not love her more, but her pictures started out great and now they’re slipping into only good and even mediocre. I’m pretty sure she’s in it for the long haul, which I don’t mind, but she needs to have some better photos. This photo is notably worse than the first five. Her face is okay. I see what she was going for, but her expression is heavy and she looks drag. Her body is super awkward in this photo, too. She shouldn’t lie down; it never looks good in photos when she does that. It sounds like I really hate this photo, and I don’t. The judges were right to say that it has sort of a Renaissance feel to it, and I love that. Despite being vaguely drag, it also has a lovely soft appeal. It’s not great, but the ones below this photo are significantly worse.
7. Brittany: Yeah, I’m not so much a fan of this. There’s no doubt she killed it on set, so I have no problems with her getting that “immunity” thing, but this photo is totally bizarre and not really in a good way. This photo definitely has a high fashion vibe, but that’s due to the styling and not really what Brittany’s doing. She’s kind of a non-entity in this photo, which isn’t really the point of a beauty shot. She also has that harsh and old thing going on with her face that she usually does, and her expression is dead. IMO, Brittany needs to improve big time.
8. Kara: She looks like a way more drag Brittany C8 in this shot, and Brittany C8 had the tendency to look kinda drag. Anyway, yeah. It’s just really blah. She didn’t have a good beauty shot like Erin or Sundai, and she didn’t do anything to push herself further. Plus, what we can see of her body looks kind of weird. It’s just… eh. I don’t have anything to say, really.
9. Bianca: Yeah, this is not very good. I maintain she’s really gorgeous and I like the action in this shot, but wow, she looks so incredibly uncomfortable and awkward. The expression is pretty much laughable. For a beauty shot, that face is remarkably bad, and the extremely visible strain in the arm – and the visible armpit BOOOO!!!!! – proves distracting. Also, her proportions look really off in this shot. It’s not a horrible photo, but it’s not very good.
10. Jennifer: Ugh, I got so excited when she was relatively awesome last week, but this photo is terrible. She’s totally winning, though. It’s thirty times more obvious than Teyona’s win was, even if she hasn’t gotten a FCO yet. First of all, is it awful of me to say it reminds me of those old racist cartoons of Asians? With the horribly slanted eyes and the buck teeth? Like, you all know I hate buck teeth, and this photo is not good at all. Jennifer has a really beautiful face IRL, but she needs to watch out what angles she’s photographed at, because a lot of them are really bad. She looks best straight-on. Like Bianca’s photo, there’s too much tension going on here, and she looks stiff and uncomfortable. I give her props for trying, but this photo isn’t good at all.

I'm horrible.
