Awesome. He's great. And... you know... pretty.

You are so pretty. So so very pretty. Like... too pretty? Probably. Definitely too skinny for me (you all know I like boys that look like slabs of beef or something), not that I am really complaining.

Also, a good actor! Hamlet was pretty good - I liked its minimalist approach, and I appreciated that, I dunno, nobody was delivering their monologues underwater or buried up to their necks in sand or something - but it got slightly tedious. Then again, it is Hamlet, and it was really, really cold in the theater. Brrrr my footsies froze. Anyway, yeah, a good production and I recommend it.

I almost forgot that tomorrow I am going to see the Jude Law Hamlet on Broadway. No, I'm not going because Jude Law's in it; it got great reviews and I honestly like the play. I'll be back with my "review"... and I'm sure you're all really excited. Wooooo

Most lovable actor on the planet, seriously. He's not particularly talented (he's talented, but not as much as say, his former roommate [hot!] Jude Law), and he's often in crap crap crap. But he's ludicrously lovable.

So the boyf is one of those guys that sees most movies, even the small and "insignificant" indie ones (and errr. sometimes he downloads them. don't look at him like that!). A lineup of OWNAGE. It looks like another good year for actresses - I already have 13 that are worthy of consideration! I consolidated Miller's performances, which I never do, because I didn't want to kick Judd out cuz she was so damn good. Speaking of Sienna, when the hell did she turn into an awesome actress?! If this lineup stays the same at the end of the year, I'll be pretty darn happy (so basically, it can only get better). Cotillard was indeed great, but she is highly overrated.

could they be any better-looking?

also, the movie: wow. it's minghella's most difficult film, for sure - it takes at least an hour to have some semblance of a plot beyond "italy is pretty!!" - but once it does, it becomes a hitchcockian masterwork. plus, jude law + matt damon ass. if you're like me and just rewatched babel this weekend and realized that a) it really was a spectacularly made exercise in cruelty, more so than even a von trier film, and thus worthless and b) rinko kikuchi spent all the damn time naked and after a while it got tiresome, then the talented mr. ripley ends up seeming like...a nice break. even though it's not a break at all (i mean, it's no love actually).

2004

2004 was a great year. It gave us unquestionably the best film of the new millennium, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (it's not my favorite film of the new millennium...but it's up there). In fact, that film might just be the best picture of the entire 99-06 period. If not, it's up there with American Beauty, Lost in Translation, the Kill Bill opus, and the other masterpieces this time period has offered.

* Yes, Kinsey. Probably the most underrated film of the entire new millennium. It's flawlessly acted, very funny and smart, and I dunno. Most biopics, even those with greater acclaim from this very year (I'm looking at you Ray and Finding Neverland!), weren't interesting. This one was. Maybe the subject matter helped? I dunno. All I know is I think it's a great movie, and probably the best biopic that's the typical big, sprawling, someone's-entire-life-in-two-and-a-half-hours, Oscarbait type (as opposed to Raging Bull, Amadeus, and Marie-Antoinette, more slice-of-life biopics).
