Shows how interesting this season/that episode was... but I might as well do it now, right?
I might have said this before, but this was really the lamest challenge in Project Runway history. "Make something blue." You gotta be kidding me. I mostly forget who worked with who (was the group thing even necessary?), so I'll just judge the designs individually.
Althea: In a way, Althea's design is actually really cute. I like the jacket a lot; actually, the entire top half is great. The only issue is a big one. Uhhhh, that skirt. It's far too short and tight. This could have been a decent office look with a longer skirt. Instead, she just looks incredibly cheap. Credit to her for noticing that it was too short, but uh, she should have done something to fix it.
Carol Hannah: If I'm remembering correctly, she won or was in the high group in one week (I think it was the "make a pretty dress... FOR YOUR MODEL!" week as opposed to "make a pretty dress... FOR THE RED CARPET!" week or the "make a pretty dress... FOR A PREGNANT LADY!" week or the "make a pretty dress... THAT COULD BE IN A MOVIE!" week. Dammit. That last one didn't go along with the "pattern" of the others :( ) for a similar design, but I like this much, much better. It's a lot more flattering. It's kinda simple, yeah, but I almost see a Mad Men thing going on, which is obviously very in right now. I love the colors. I'm not sure about the shoes and the high waist thing only works on some people, but when that's all the complaints I really have, it's not bad at all.
Christopher: Uhhh... ummmmm... it's a disappointment considering how talented he is. We've seen this from him before in his maternity outfit, but that was a lot cuter somehow. This is not flattering and while I like the white thing, the blue crinkles around the neck are eh. Overall, though it's so boring, so completely lacking in anything, that I don't really have much to say. Oh, those bracelets are terrible.
Epperson: Bad. Bad bad bad. It's a criminally sloppy shirtdress, the hem is weird, the neckline is unflattering, and that fabric looks CHEAP. I like the necklace, though. Really. That's the only good thing I can say about this. Oh, and it wasn't the worst of the week! Isn't that kind of scary?
Gordana: Other than it being maybe THE MOST BORING LOOK IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, it's fine. Actually, looking at it now, maybe not. Like, I've seen people in tops more flattering than the one this girl has on. The ruching (spelling?) just looks really bad, cheap, and unflattering. And I think I hate the sleeves.
Irina: It's a really pretty, nicely made dress. Um, that's about all I have to say. The win wasn't undeserved. This is probably the best outfit of the week. Congrats?
Logan: This is just gross. The entire thing looks almost unbelievably sloppy, it's incredibly unflattering, and... uh... IT'S NOT EVEN BLUE. GODDAMN IT, LOGAN, HOW HARD WAS IT TO MAKE SOMETHING BLUE?!?!?! EPIC FAIL. Remember when I said Epperson's wasn't the worst of the week? Yeah.
Louise: Seriously? This is what the judges freaked out over? This is... cute. It's made well. It's flattering. Yeah, the ruffles are like "HEY HERE WE ARE AND WE ARE RUFFLES!!!" but compared to the multitude of horrors seen this week, it's actually quite good.
Nicholas: Aaaand here is where the ruffles just don't work. Holy cow, this is terrible. Looking at it... I'm pretty sure Epperson's design wasn't even the second worst this week. It fits HORRIBLY, the fabric looks BEYOND cheap, and the ruffles, WHAT THE HELL. Oh my gosh, this is REALLY bad. And I wouldn't put it pass that slimebucket Nicholas to sabotage Louise. Ugh.
Shirin: It's really cute and while simple, still interesting. I don't like those kind of belts, but even that works here. And normally I think I'd hate the twee little sleeves, but Shirin makes even those work here. Good job?
