Oh man, I love The Departed.
It's always on TV now, and I'll always watch it. It's an extremely quality movie, but also hugely entertaining. And I gotta say - I LOVE that last scene. The button with the rat got a lot of criticism, but I think it's just the perfect "heh..." ending. Also always on TV? My second-favorite movie of 2006, Marie-Antoinette. Awesome. Makes up for the fact that Babel's always on now too. And won't someone put License to Wed on once so I can watch my John without having to rent it from Netflix and thus feel dirty?

happy birthday to the divisive ones.

First, Kirsten Dunst. Um...I actually really like her. I'm a big fan of her work in Interview with a Vampire, The Virgin Suicides, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Bring It On, crazy/beautiful, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and of course, last year's Marie-Antoinette (though she doesn't even make my top 10 for actress, that's more a comment on how strong the year is). Yeah, she can be really bad too (Elizabethtown) or really bland (the Spider-Man films...OMG Spider-Man 3 this weekend!!!! Maybe I'll actually see it!!!), but I don't hate her at all. Except she's a dumb slut that dumped Jake Gyllenhaal...
Person #2: Lars von Trier. Meh. Dogville was so awesome though

fabulous movies out on dvd today
pick up: marie-antoinette and the departed, respectively #8 and 1 (!) on my list of top 10 films of 2006. they're both superb but in very different ways. also, half nelson is out today, a just-miss for my top 10. ryan gosling is amazing, and easily the best of the nominated actors. shareeka epps, tina holmes, anthony mackie...also great.
also: infernal affairs, on which the departed is based. um...to be honest, i've never seen any of them, so i guess i should be first on line to buy those, huh?
