Ugh

Every time that trailer for Fame airs and I hear "The talent agent found me on YOUTUBE!" or whatever the line is, I die a little inside.

Oh man.

Inglorious Bastards has begun showing ads on TV. These ads include Brad Pitt with a laughable accent and what appears to be Hitler played for camp. I CANNOT WAIT.

and one final (maybe) awesome thing about The Hangover

Normally, most comedy movies put like, 95% of their jokes in the trailer. This happens with all comedies, whether good (Zoolander!) or bad (The 40-Year-Old Virgin). However, The Hangover's trailer actually makes it look WAY WORSE than it actually is. The ads actually underrate it or whatever.

SEE IT. Not that you already haven't or whatever.

Uh, Gran Torino.

What is this movie about? Because I saw my first preview for it today and it basically looked like "OMG Clint Eastwood is racist toward the Asians!!!!!!"

Also, Academy, are you really gonna give Clint another Oscar? Really? Another?

THIS MOVIE LOOKS GREAT!!!!!

Seriously, when Clive Owen appears promiscuously shirtless in a trailer for a movie, I SHOULD BE INFORMED IMMEDIATELY.

Mickey Rourke made me cry in the trailer alone for The Wrestler, too...

Hey, Benjamin Button trailer!

You! Yes, you! Don't think I don't realize you're stealing the music from Love Actually!!!

Four Christmases

So, this trailer is all over TV here. It looks laaaaaaaaaaaaaaame. And wasn't this the movie where Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn constantly wanted to tear the other's throat out? That's kind of awesome actually...

I was very impressed...

...by the trailer to The Soloist, playing before Burn After Reading. I was expecting the movie, based on the description alone, to be ridiculously sentimental, saccharine mush, but it doesn't look that way from the trailer (though the mention of Julliard and homeless together still puts me into a panic over shitty-ass August Rush). I should have known: RDJ don't do crap, right?

Milk also looks great. If it's as good as the trailer implies it is, hopefully it has all the success of Brokeback Mountain...

Finally, The Brothers Bloom looks like a riot. Or rather, Rachel Weisz does in it. Another Best Supporting Actress Oscar? Unlikely, but we'll see.

And, of course, here are the trailers:

Milk:

The Soloist:

The Brothers Bloom:

(New Jersey jokes are always funny.)

Oh dear.

Okay. Kate Hudson in Almost Famous wasn't anywhere close to deserving the Oscar, but you could see that she definitely had some talent. And, well, thank God that she didn't win, because she'd currently be in Cuba-Gooding-Jr.-Oscar-winner-sinkpit-from-hell. She's resigned herself to the shittiest of romantic comedies. I mean, let's face it, this is How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, just with a dude in the role of the chick and a chick in the role of the dude.

But what REALLY irritates me about this? You can probably guess. Apparently, Alec Baldwin is not quite as talented as Dane Cook or Jason Biggs. You motherfuckers. But, apparently, he's more important than Janice Ian...

This trailer, on the other hand...

Why don't they just call it Atonement 2 and be done with it? Does Keira Knightley REALLY say "come back to me"???!?!?!?

I'm intrigued.

Oh, and I love the title. It makes no sense. Vicky and Cristina in Barcelona? Is "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" someone's name? Plus, I love Barcelona. So, yeah, I'm pretty excited.

..."Barcelona" is one of those words that loses meaning the more you look at it.

Trailer trash talk.

I saw the Margot at the Wedding trailer. Dude. Academy Award Nominee Jack Black? I think Margot will have Squid and the Whale-level success, in that it'll get some critical recognition, but no Best Picture nomination-type stuff. And, in the trailer, Black schools the morose Kidman and hardly present Jason Leigh. I'd like to see it happen...

Oh, and I did the impossible. I ranked my chosen 100 movies from the AFI list. =/ Citizen Kane is #30! I be talkin' crazy talk! I'll post the list...eventually.

I just watched the Atonement trailer.

...for the first time. I know, I know. Wow, Keira Knightley looks really bad. And I loved her in Pride and Prejudice. Did I ever mention that one time I sat next to Ian McEwan on a sofa? No? Aren't I awesome? (Or not)

American Gangster trailer

http://playlist.yahoo.com/makeplaylist.dll?sid=37949179&sdm=web&qtw=640&qth=400

Gee, do you think they're trying to make this like The Departed. I couldn't get that at all. Nope. (/sarcasm)

That said, I'm impressed. It looks really interesting and Russell and Denzel seem great. Oh, and Roger Bart, why are you being hideously miscast in movies? In Hostel Part II (which I won't see even if you pay me a lot), he's apparently the psycho killer. In American Gangster, it appears as if he plays some kind of super-racist Mafia man (speaking of which: OMG is it REALLY the last Sopranos this week? SO WEIRD). Oh and wasn't he apparently on Desperate Housewives (gross) as a crazed pharmacist? People, this guy won his Tony FOR PLAYING SNOOPY. He also played pretty much the largest gay stereotype ever in The Producers. That doesn't exactly scream "please put me in Hostel Part II."

But yeah. American Gangster looks great. That and Ratatouille! I'm SO EXCITED for that!!!
