Top Chef Masters "review"
Well... that was dull. I understand they're all professional chefs, but isn't Hubert Keller like... considered one of the best chefs on Earth? Eric Ripert-level or whatnot? The others are good chefs, but not at his level. So it's pretty much a given he's gonna win. Also, that dessert he made was ADOOOOORABLE!
So, it was pretty dull. The criticism was a snoozer, and effectively consisted of, "We loved everything! Yay! You minorly overseasoned this dish! That's okay though! Because you were in a dorm room! AusNTM shoot: Jumping.
Yeah, so, this week, the girls jumped on a trampoline for forty effin' minutes in designer duds (and the judges complained when girls were out of breath). The photos will apparently be auctioned off to support the fight against breast cancer, which is lovely. But OMG the photographer, she just kept screaming "POINT YOUR TOES, POINT YOUR TOES!!!!" and it was soooooo annoying. Apparently she was also on Australia's version of Make Me a Supermodel and was doing the same damn thing. Shut up, woman. She also screamed "YOU'RE OUT OF CONTROL!!!!" a few times, like poor Adele was drinking a forty on the trampoline.
Here's my call-out order! Please note that I've changed my mind on my call-out order like six times already...
1. Lola
Ugh... it figures Lola gets eliminated as she's getting... I'm not even gonna say "better," I'll say "downright good." Even AusNTM is ridiculous LOL. She's such a non-graceful girl, but here, she looks like some kind of ethereal ballerina. Her face really can look exquisitely beautiful sometimes, even with that jaw. My only fault is that her thighs looked big, but everyone with exposed thighs in this challenge... they were lookin' chunky.
2. Cassi
The arms on this one are all messed up. But other than that, it's just great.
3. Clare
GORGEOUS. It's like some ethereal angel... but those eyes, eek! Seriously, it's only because of the eyes that it's down this low. Otherwise, this photo is like a religious experience.
4. Tahnee
I love the energy in this one. Again, the thighs look thick, but so did everyone who had exposed thighs. The bigger problem is the fact that the thighs disappeared and her face doesn't look as beautiful as she actually is.
5. Adele
Adele was so my favorite pre-show... but now, is this bitch ever gonna impress me? She just looks snarly and possessed, and her pose is boring. Pose... boring... on a trampoline. And her face just doesn't photograph well.
6. Franky
In a way, it was kinda sabotage. She's the only one that didn't get a beautiful, voluminous dress that would look great with... uh... "wind in the dress" or whatever you want to call it. But she didn't go home, so... not that much sabotage. Her pose is lame and she's really made that face quite a few times this season, and it's just not flattering. I've been hearing "FRANKY NEEDS TO GO HOME, ARGLBLARGL" since day 1 of this show... when she wasn't actually all that bad. But now? Yeah, FRANKY NEEDS TO GO HOME.

Based on multiple spoilers, the F2 is Cassi and Tahnee (the finale is live, so the winner hasn't been decided yet). I don't know who I want to win out of those two. Cassi's been acting like goddamn Tahlia the entire time and she can't do anything but take a good picture - and even there, she's a little shaky - and Tahnee, while unbelievably gorgeous, just doesn't have a model body. I'm surprised they didn't get on her for being plus-size at that interview where Lola was accused of being plus-size. I'm also surprised that the judges haven't gotten on her about her body size. Wow, that's making me sound like I hate these two, when I love them both. Let's face it, they've taken some amazing photos, they're both totally gorgeous - Tahnee is just unbelievably beautiful, and Cassi has an Audrey Hepburn thing going on that shines through her low-class personality - and they'll be better winners than... uh... any winner of ANTM save maybe Danielle TBH.

I'll admit he was the one, out of the three, who I least wanted to win. I just don't think he's performed as well as the other two, but I looooved all three of those guys, and I knew I'd be thrilled with whatever winner they chose. And I was thrilled with Branden, indeed!
More thoughts tomorrow. For now, just congrats Branden - and Sandhurst and Jonathan, because they did an amazing job too!

Australia's Next Top Model S5.
So I should get caught up on this. AusNTM is pretty much the most amazing NTM series ever, and this season in particular has been really strong. The girls are gorgeous and even the "bad" pictures are very strong. So let me catch up to where we are now...
WEEK 1 ::: SWIMWEAR COUTURE
1. Cassi
Cassi may be a psycho (though her attitude is improving) with Tahlia's attitude about the competition, but she can take one hell of a photo. This is a really hard pose to hold, but she pulls it off effortlessly.
2. Lola
That's a weird face, but I love her pose. She looks like a great pin-up.
3. Clare
Her body looks great, and that face is kind of literally orgasmic.
4. Georgie
Considering that she's hoisting up that huge ball, I think this photo is really cute and pretty graceful. Love that face.
5. Madison
I wish we could see more of the suit (the full version is much better), but she looks really beautiful. Do something with that hair and she's awesome.
6. Tahnee
Again, I wish we could see more of the swimsuit... but she's working all the weird accessories she was given, and she's really beautiful.
7. Eloise
The face is wacky and it seems like a poor imitation of Claire's, but great body on this one, and she's showing it off well.

It wasn't bottom two worthy, but it wasn't great either. I love her posiness, actually, she looks very pin-up girl. But it's off in the face and the angle is kind of odd (not that that's her fault).

I like her body pose a lot minus the weird arm. But her face is just kind of odd.

It's just... not great. I think it's kinda cute, but it also looks like she has a headache.

Homegirl nailed it. That's all. It's amazing she got that pose while all scrunched up.

It's a little messy... but I love the energy. It's really engaging. I wish the clothes looked just a little better.

I think she looks really calm and collected and I love her pose.

I love how relaxed she looks, like she's hanging out by a wall or something, but I don't like that smirky weird face.

I love her pose, even if she is very showgirl.

She looks a little disheveled and sweaty, but overall, I get kind of an ethereal effect from this photo. Her body looks great this week.

She looks pretty disheveled and she's got a titscrepancy, but... I don't know. It's not that bad. I like her pose.

There's nothing special in this photo, but it's not offensively bad. She could use a little more lightness in her eyes and face, because she looks so dull.

I actually really like her face, but her pose is lamer than Leah's. She's just sitting there, but she's managed to completely distort her arms. Also, her legs look REALLY skinny, and I suspect they were almost completely Photoshopped. It looks like she's afraid of showing her underwear so she CLAMPED them together, which is never exactly a great look.
11. Tahnee
I like how she was going for something different and her face looks so pretty and soft, but this photo is just a noooo. She looks fat, she's missing one of her legs and her other limbs look short, weird, and distorted. And uh, what's up with the boobs?

I remember in full view, this is much better... but I still don't like it. Her face just photographs badly and she looks wide. Either way, it's the worst of the week.

It's beautiful but ethereal. It really looks like the cover of some high-end fashion magazine. She still looks youthful, but she looks really mature as well.

Incredible. I love the expresssion she's giving with her eyes, and how she went for something a little different than the other girls and totally succeeded.
3. Clare
She is otherworldly... that's all. Like the judges said, I get this very ethereal Cate Blanchett in Lord of the Rings thing from her.
4. Mikarla
It's so soft and pretty. She transformed the pain she was feeling in her eyes into total passion.
5. Madison
Wow, she looks like a movie star from the '70s in this photo. It's so glamorous. I love the look on her face. Damn, these photos are all so amazing!!
6. Cassi
The teeth kind of ruin it a little bit, but I think it has this "I'm caught in the moment" beauty about it. She really transforms into gorgeousness on any given set.
7. Franky
I like this angle on her face. You can see her bone structure so well, her makeover did wonders for her. I love the slight parting of the lips, but she's not pushing it as far as these other girls.
8. Georgie
She looks fresh, but kind of... pedo young. And something about her face looks almost masculine... something with the styling, I think. I'm not crazy about it.

Again, her face just photographs ugly. And her hair is WAAAYYY too bright, it'll clash with everything.

More or less perfection... she really got that high fashion editorial broken down thing, plus she's showing off the clothes so well.

AMAZING. Her body doesn't look perfect, but I think she looks like a woman, not some stick. Her pose is so determined and it really looks like an ad.

As a photo, it's BEYOND outstanding. That face is PERFECTION. As a lingerie ad... where is the lingerie?!
4. Franky
I think this is easily her best photo yet. She really pulled off that pose and doesn't look uncomfortable. Her signature scowl is working great.

Cassi may be a psycho (though her attitude is improving) with Tahlia's attitude about the competition, but she can take one hell of a photo. This is a really hard pose to hold, but she pulls it off effortlessly.

That's a weird face, but I love her pose. She looks like a great pin-up.
3. Clare
Her body looks great, and that face is kind of literally orgasmic.
4. Georgie
Considering that she's hoisting up that huge ball, I think this photo is really cute and pretty graceful. Love that face.

I wish we could see more of the suit (the full version is much better), but she looks really beautiful. Do something with that hair and she's awesome.

It's beautiful but ethereal. It really looks like the cover of some high-end fashion magazine. She still looks youthful, but she looks really mature as well.

Incredible. I love the expresssion she's giving with her eyes, and how she went for something a little different than the other girls and totally succeeded.
3. Clare
She is otherworldly... that's all. Like the judges said, I get this very ethereal Cate Blanchett in Lord of the Rings thing from her.
4. Mikarla
It's so soft and pretty. She transformed the pain she was feeling in her eyes into total passion.
5. Madison
Wow, she looks like a movie star from the '70s in this photo. It's so glamorous. I love the look on her face. Damn, these photos are all so amazing!!

The teeth kind of ruin it a little bit, but I think it has this "I'm caught in the moment" beauty about it. She really transforms into gorgeousness on any given set.

I like this angle on her face. You can see her bone structure so well, her makeover did wonders for her. I love the slight parting of the lips, but she's not pushing it as far as these other girls.

I think she did the whole boyish walk really well, and those clothes actually hid those weird-ass hips of hers!

This was so cute. Plus, Jonathan looked HOT. Loved that golf swing, and Karen watching it! It was really creative, but it fit perfectly with their outfits.

They KILLED IT! They looked so good in synch. And they really did justice to those... uh... "clothes."
10. Laury's "beautiful freak"
Laury's walk was actually pretty strong. I loved how she incorporated the dancer elements into this particular walk, and she was one of very few to nail it.

Her and Sandhurst were the only ones that did well at all, and she just did particularly well on a really difficult challenge.
8. Salome's English countryside runway
Easily Salome's best runway. In a somewhat looser outfit than that ridiculous red outfit she had on for the elemental week, her "jiggle" actually looks totally beautiful and fashionable. Plus, I loooved the way she did that thing with the coat.
7. Sandhurst's elemental runway
Definition of class. This was outstanding.

I loooooved how he looked like something from a David Fincher movie. He didn't just fit the brief, he went above and beyond it. He could go a little crazy on the catwalk sometimes (see that #2 worst walk), but he did that to the best advantage this week.

It was just so classy, elegant, and chic, while bringing a whole lot of edginess.

So I was at the Yankees game tonight, with those really overly fancy Legends Suite seats (I sometimes have ~connections~). For those of you that might care, this is an idea of how close the seats are: I actually got to hear their super cute first baseman Mark Teixeira SCREAM "THAT'S FUCKING BULLSHIT! THROW THE FUCKING BALL OVER THE PLATE!!" after he got hit for the second time by a pitcher.
Coming from an adorable puppy dog boy scout type like Tex, it was both hilarious and terrifying. And I love how the people talking about the game on TV were like "words were exchanged between the two players."

From Trinidad/Tobago Fashion Week, which they did together. Yeah, even fuggo McKey looks AMAZING in the Sandhurst glow :D They are so adorable together! To be honest, McKey should join Colin, Branden, and Sandhurst in their apartment that they're supposedly getting, because I DO like her personality - she's like a fun "one of the guys" - and then they can all be on TV together.
But mostly I just hope they talked about what they did with the prize money they won!!!

MMaS F3: in review.
Aw! Remember Week 1? Branden was homophobic, Jonathan had long hair, and Sandhurst was flawless. Well, one of those things hasn't changed...

He doesn't look crazy at all... partially because of the styling, but partially because, if you look at that face in close-up, there's so much CONTROL there, minus the one popped eyelid. Plus, he's the only one that gave the photographer any sort of usable variation. Jonathan's is fine and "fashion," but not, you know, exciting. Branden looks DUMB.

I've come to love Branden (haha, remember when I did my original predictions after Episode 1 and I said he was a homophobic tool who wasn't long for the show? D'oh! I DID call five of the top six, though, so yay?), but I don't think he's been half as good as the other two, and I'll be slightly disappointed if he wins unless he kills it in the last week. He definitely has the most high fashion potential, so he'll have a career no matter what, but if they were going to award on potential, they should just have crowned Colin the winner at casting and not bothered to have a whole damn season. His walk has drastically improved these last two weeks, but it's still awkward, and I've heard all this "OMG HIS PHOTOS ARE SO AMAZING" but he has probably as many stumbles in his portfolio as the other two.
Jonathan... I hear this whole "OMG HE'S NOT A MODEL!" thing on all kinds of forums. Wha? Yeah, he's not a high fashion, European market model. However, you wanna stick him up on a billboard like those really, really LOVELY David Beckham Armani ads? PERFECT. Tyson Beckford is more or less flawless, but he ain't high fashion either. However, he is more or less the definition of a supermodel: someone who moves from campaign to campaign and is known by so many people, even those who don't know a damn thing about fashion or modeling. That's really impressive, considering he's a. a guy and b. black, which makes it unbelievably difficult to make it in the industry.
My heart has been withColin Sandhurst since the beginning, though. I called him as the winner pre-show, and he's only grown on me. He has a few clunker photos in his portfolio, but overall, he brings a real creativity and thoughtfulness - without getting all caught up in his head - to set, and many of his photos are fantastic. ANTM Cycle 11 marathon...
It's on Oxygen right now, and it's the F6 episode. And you know, these girls are like... jank. Samantha's pretty, but she's just not a model. Maybe she has potential, but she just doesn't have the right attitude or anything. Like, she just comes off as a joke. She wouldn't get booked for her appearance, so much. Marjorie is hideous in person and can't pull it together about ANYTHING, though she takes some darn good photos. Elina is just a petulant child. Sheena is, not for anything, pretty damn ugly, and needs BEYOND class.
McKey is FUG. I am officially willing to say that I don't "get" her... and clearly, neither does the modeling industry, because she's doing absolutely nothing (not that any of the C11 girls have set the industry on fire, or done ANYTHING). She's got a look, but it's desperately dated. Oh and seriously, did she take a good photo the entire time she was on the show, besides that natural disasters photo? Nope. I hate to be this glib, buuuut... Voting is sexy - pretty bad, but better than most. Rope ladder - hideous Joker. Swimwear - looks like she's falling over and her face is all weird. Fierce eyes - dull. Natural disasters - awesome, no complaints here. Fiercee Awards - awful. Commercial - terrible. Pirate ship - okay body minus the distortions (okay - the girl has some hot legs), AWFUL face. Simplistic - pretty, but not simplistic enough. Dramatic - makes me wanna puke. Windmill - most overrated photo in ANTM history, seriously. It's awful! Cover Girl - I guess this is her other great photo. Believe me, I hate to be that cruel and that, again, glib, but if I had more time, I would argue further. Her portfolio didn't justify a win.
Analeigh... I love this girl, and she took the best photos, and she had the best walk, but she's just not a model, at all. Her face is all wrong for modeling (she's pretty, but she has not a whole lot of bone structure and her features are all squished together, plus she only looked fresh with her hair styled a certain way) and even in a couple of photos, it looked wonky. But like I said, she took the best photos and had the best walk. Definitely should have won. Let's face it, she only got eliminated at the F3 because she would have embarrassed the hell out of McKey at that runway, and McKey was more favored by the judges than Teyona, with a lamer portfolio.

McKey is FUG. I am officially willing to say that I don't "get" her... and clearly, neither does the modeling industry, because she's doing absolutely nothing (not that any of the C11 girls have set the industry on fire, or done ANYTHING). She's got a look, but it's desperately dated. Oh and seriously, did she take a good photo the entire time she was on the show, besides that natural disasters photo? Nope. I hate to be this glib, buuuut... Voting is sexy - pretty bad, but better than most. Rope ladder - hideous Joker. Swimwear - looks like she's falling over and her face is all weird. Fierce eyes - dull. Natural disasters - awesome, no complaints here. Fiercee Awards - awful. Commercial - terrible. Pirate ship - okay body minus the distortions (okay - the girl has some hot legs), AWFUL face. Simplistic - pretty, but not simplistic enough. Dramatic - makes me wanna puke. Windmill - most overrated photo in ANTM history, seriously. It's awful! Cover Girl - I guess this is her other great photo. Believe me, I hate to be that cruel and that, again, glib, but if I had more time, I would argue further. Her portfolio didn't justify a win.
Analeigh... I love this girl, and she took the best photos, and she had the best walk, but she's just not a model, at all. Her face is all wrong for modeling (she's pretty, but she has not a whole lot of bone structure and her features are all squished together, plus she only looked fresh with her hair styled a certain way) and even in a couple of photos, it looked wonky. But like I said, she took the best photos and had the best walk. Definitely should have won. Cycle 1.
Okay... this is part of what I've been working on for ANTM. It's the ideal elimination order of girls in a cycle, based on a combination of photos, potential/look, and other random things. I'll also include my call-out orders, which I hope are sufficiently ~controversial.~ I'll start with Cycle 1. Oh, and just a warning, I change my mind a lot. Hah.
IDEAL ELIMINATIONS!!!
10. Tessa
Her photo at the first photoshoot was the worst by far. She doesn’t have enough potential to make up for it.
9. Shannon
Her last two photos have been quite bad. She’s got potential, but seeing as this season is very underwear/lingerie/nudity-based, I don’t think this was the right one to apply to for her.
8. Nicole
She’s a one-faced wonder and her photo this week is bad. Kesse’s photo is worse, but she did better in the past.
7. Ebony
Bad commercial, and she hasn’t been doing very well.

These past few weeks of ANTM...

Beach Scenes
1. Teyona
All the photos this week were flawed in some way (much like last season’s swimsuit photos… girls, is it really so hard to just STAND THERE and be pretty?!), but this is the least flawed of all. And it’s pretty darn good overall. She really captured a kinda sexy mood, even if her body proportions look rather off. And her face is kind of all jaw and chin. But anyway… I dunno. In a way, it reminds me of her light photo, which I still love. It’s effortless, but she still looks like a beautiful model.
2. Celia
I dunno, I go back and forth between this photo and Allison’s. I think I have to give the #2 to Celia and the #3 to Allison because Celia shows off the outfit better, plus Celia’s body looks insane, even in that INCREDIBLY tiny bikini. I love how much she stands out too. Unfortunately, the reason I don’t like it as much as I could have is from the shoulders up. That pose with her arms is so weird (and the arm on the left looks super short)… why is she choking herself? Worst of all, though, her face just looks simply awful. I don’t like that part of the photo at all. But still, I think it’s good.
3. Allison
If this photo wasn’t so damn far away, I think I would have liked it more. As is, it’s not bad, but my main flaw that’s something she could have helped is the fact that I can barely see the swimsuit. Honestly, you can basically only see her ass and her face, and I wish she wasn’t blocking so much of her body… but it’s still a good shot. She looks cute, she stands out (Nigel got a lot of flack for this photo, but I kinda like it… everything kind of points to the off-center Allison), and I love her eyes and the subtle sexiness. Random, but I also like how she shows off the shoes.
4. Aminat
Not bad, not great. She looks really beautiful, and I love her face. I know she’s done that angle like 80000 times, but what can you say, it looks good. The suit looks great against her skin, which looks marvelous. That said, I think her pose is really bad, it looks like she’s going to collapse and she’s angled herself so she looks thicker than she really is. Oh, and not for anything, but it looks like she’s pooping her hand. I think that's my biggest problem.
5. Fo
Oh dear Jesus, where to start. I love Fo, but this photo is beyond horrendous. I mean, you can tell she was trying to do something interesting with her body, but she really, as much as I adore her, never learned how not to look extremely short and, in this case, hunched over like Gollum. Her legs look about 4 inches long. Her face looks freakishly enormous and it’s a terrible angle and expression. And honestly, what the hell is wrong with her ARMS?! Fo was my ideal winner but seeing how hard she bit it in Brazil (that last picture wasn’t anything to write home about either), I think I’m gonna have to change that. Sigh.
Exotic Birds
1. Allison
UNREAL. The other three, yes, including Celia’s, are so far below this it’s not even funny. This photo is just SIIIIICK. Best of the cycle and one of the best of all time. I love how editorial and graceful this photo is, and the way her face looks. She looks so tiny in the photo, but I adore the way she still manages to stand out. She looks really primal, too. Ugh… it’s really flawless. I can’t even talk about how good it is any more. Every time I look at it, it just grows on me all the more.
2. Celia
Can’t really touch Allison’s, and it’s not as good as so many were saying… but it’s still quite good. I love from her neck to her waist, but her legs seem to weirdly disappear into stumps. And, as ever, I don’t really like her face. She looks like she wants to devour my soul. Love the intensity in her eyes, but it’s too much with that mouth. I see a fierce beast… not a bird at all. But honestly, she just looks like a model here, and it’s a good photo.
3. Aminat
Not bad, just not as good as the other two. Honestly, Allison’s just in another stratosphere and then the other three might as well have been tied. I love her pose, I think she really stands out, but unfortunately she’s missing an arm. Her face looks kind of… odd, I dunno. It looks like she’s squinting weirdly, or cock-eyed, and there’s just something weird with the angle… I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s not great. Still, this picture is honestly one of the better ones in Aminat’s portfolio. I love the longing attitude in it.
4. Teyona
First things first… how’d she end up in a NEST when she was posing in a TREE? Thanks Photoshop… but anyway, this photo honestly isn’t bad. It’s just the “worst” of the four. I almost put her above Aminat, but I see a lot more movement and energy in Aminat’s, so that gave her the slight advantage. I think Teyona looks really beautiful and there’s a lot of serenity in her pose, but I don’t see the grace of a bird there or anything, and like I said, the pose is slightly boring. Still, this isn’t bad, not at all. The last time all the shots in the F4 were this good was the all-holy Cycle 6 (Cycle 7 had Eugena with a terrible photo, Cycle 8 Natasha, Cycle 9 Bianca… well I guess that wasn’t SO terrible, Cycle 10 Dominique, Cycle 11 McKey, MCKEY'S WINDMILL PHOTO HATE).
